Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went for a walk up to Mount Gabriel. Parked the car at the sign (see photo - disclaimer - first two pictures are not mine) and walked UP 2 kilometers (from 580’ to 1300’) to the top. It was easy going down! Well worth the trek up. Once there, go up the path to the left of the first “ball” to the peak between the two “balls”.

The views were fabulous - pictures just do it justice.

Rough terrain once you leave the road. There is no track. An enjoyable walk. Nice views. Beware of the dog at the end of the road.

What an absolute treat! A 10 minute drive from Schull town centre (use google maps) and you reach the road that takes you up the winding, snake like road to the top of Mt Gabriel. It's a bit of a white knuckle drive so take it slow - don't attempt at sunset as the sun is directly in front of your face and makes it very difficult to see the road. Once at the top the views are 360 panoramic, plus you can take a walk around the planetarium. Plenty of local dog walkers about as well!
Whenever we went for the second time we noticed that the gate was closed - whether this was an accident or there are certain time restrictions in which you can ascend we're not sure, but if you can drive up to the top it's worth it for the view alone. The roaming sheep make the journey entertaining as well.

On a recommendation I drove to mount Juliet en route to M.head and wow what views, the panaromic pics I got as the sun was starting to set were phenomenal and it’s so peaceful at the top. I parked at the bottom and walked up the road and the views along the walk were breath taking! Definitely recommend this for a picnic. Suitable for all levels of fitness

We drove up to Mt. Gabriel upon our arrival in Schull and were floored by the views. It only took about 10 minutes to drive up there, but it felt like we were a world away, and the views were just breathtaking. A bonus is the many sheep encounters we had on the way up and down (drive with care).

If you make it to the top either by walking or driving the views are spectacular. If you are driving make sure you are good at reversing as very few passing places
