- Ron437Westerville, Ohio142 contributionsNice Place to Experience CobhGreat place to visit to do many things. You can look at history exhibits of Cobh. There is the Queenstown Story which has a fee. There are local vendors selling various products. There is a small cafeteria style restaurant where you can sample Irish favorites (fairly reasonable) and of course gift shops if you are looking for something to take home.Ron, Many thanks for taking the time to review us. Thank you for your very kind 4 star rating, delighted that you enjoyed our exhibition, Kind regards Jack WalshWritten 11 February 2020This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited September 2019Written 10 February 2020

The exhibition itself is extremely well presented in the way it depicts the maritime history and recounts the stories of Lusitania, Titanic and Irish emigrants. Many thanks for your very kind 5 star review and comments, much appreciated. - cumbriatouristUlverston, United Kingdom62 contributionsThe story of Irish ImmigrationThis heritage centre is located in former railway buildings on the quayside at Cobh. It is literally a 2 minute walk from the station or from a visiting cruise ship as was our case. You can enter the premises without payment where there are a couple of shops and a small cafe. There is an admission charge for the heritage centre. The story if that of Irish emigration and the rural life of Ireland and how it was affected by the potato famine. Well worth a visit - learnt a lot did not realise how many irish people emigrated to England, USA, Canada and Colonies. History of ships and travel in later galleries.Visited August 2022Written 20 August 2022

Cobh deserves more time! If you want to see the Titanic exhibit, buy tickets ahead of time since there are so many tourists. The Heritage exhibition /Queenstown exhibit was also excellent and the town itself is worth visiting.

Very interesting and enlightening visit and I say that as someone educated in Ireland. I learned a lot of facts I didn’t previously know - very moving and tragic history lesson from a dark period in Irish history.

Nice way to pass an hour or dso. Plenty of different emigration stories from Canada to USA to Australia. Also covered the Titanic and the sinking of the
Lusitania. They were lovely at the front desk and got a reluctant 7 year old to participate in a kids trail. You can also book genealogy appointments. There's a gift shop and a cafe here too.

In the kid’s opinion,it was “fine”.A lot of repetition, and not as interactive as many other similar attractions. The entire area is very tired, and the toilet area was filthy, which is a shame considering that this may be tourists first experience of Ireland when they arrive from cruise ships.

What a special experience to meet with a genealogist familiar with the local records and communities. We truly enjoyed this very personal experience for the whole family. It is good to know that if you already have a lot of information you may not leave with much more in the way of facts, but you will have more color and resources to dig further.

Although small, this was a very interesting and informative museum describing the emigration from Ireland over the years. Staff helpful. It is situated right next to the cruise terminal.

I was so excited to visit Cobh and the Heritage Center Museum, but was underwhelmed. The Museum had some good information on Irish Emigration and we enjoyed learning more on the subject. The museum did not seem well kept. Many of the small exhibits needed repair or just looked dingy. This museum is a lot of reading! We visited EPIC in Dublin earlier the same week and found it so much more interactive while covering some of the same information.

Jennifer have us a great overview of the area and history. We all enjoyed walking around. Even a little rain did not bother us.

My family will be in Cork over the upcoming Easter weekend. We would like to visit the Cobh Heritage Centre on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. What hours will the centre be open that day? Using public transportation to visit from Cork, will the train schedule be impacted by the religious holiday? Does the cruise ship industry use this port all year long? Should one expect much cruise ship passenger traffic at the center on Easter Sunday?

Re: Your Query -
1. The Heritage Centre will be open on Easter Sunday 9.30 to 18.00
2. The Trains schedule will be the normal Sunday times
3. There will be no Cruise Liners in on that day - there will be one in on the
following day (Monday)
I do hope that you will enjoy your visit to our lovely town and that you have a memorable time in Ireland

I had sent a note to the genealogy person but have not gotten a response to my inquiry. We will be at your center on Aug. 15th. in the am. I would like to work with a genealogist as this was what is bringing to Ireland. I was told that you do not always have on available. Would someone please get back to me on this. Thank you, Diane

I don't get involved with that sort of stuff, however I did note that there wasn't a facility available at the visitor centre as far as I could see. There were some very good displays and really good information about the Titanic herself, life on board tc.
