We toured the Heritage center and found it very interesting. Lot of history explained. Also, a good place for a quick lunch

Was a little worried when the museum started off with some oddly dressed mannequins and a few information boards, but it quickly improved to teach a lot about emigration from Ireland through Cobh, prisoners being sent to Australia, being the last Port of call for the Titanic, and how involved Cobh was with the aftermath of the Lusitania sinking. Children will enjoy being given a passenger to follow along with and find throughout the museum; I thought this was a nice touch and it was good to see a variety of endings. Overall a good way to spend the morning in Cobh.

When we arrived, I didn't think we would be there vey long. However, this place is like a Tardis and goes on and on - there is so much to see.
We would have stayed a lot longer but had to rush to get to our Spike Island ferry.
This is such good value and has so much to offer. Lots of information and so much to learn.
Plus a great cafe with very friendly staff and delicious food.
Really enjoyed this visit and would love to return to do it all again.

This is a wonderful experiential museum telling the story of Queenstown/Cobh.
It tells the story of immigrants, sailors, convicts and passengers on the Titanic and Lusitania using letters, diaries, clothing, replica furniture, and possessions. The museum is self guided with dioramas, short films, newspaper articles and photos. You can even trace your Irish roots.
It is very moving and something people of all ages should see

My daughter and I were first met by an enthusiastic gentleman (I don't remember his name) who greeted us warmly and ensured that we would have a wonderful experience.
This wonderful museum is where the artifacts of the Titanic and Lusitania disasters are available to the public. This is a very well-researched and presented museum and a must-see.
Upon entering, you are given the name of a real person who traveled on one of these ships. We found ourselves reading everything that was available. When we found our passengers on our respective ships, their stories are so well documented that we took pictures of the information with our phones so that we could remember the accounts of these remarkable people forever.

My family will be in Cork over the upcoming Easter weekend. We would like to visit the Cobh Heritage Centre on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. What hours will the centre be open that day? Using public transportation to visit from Cork, will the train schedule be impacted by the religious holiday? Does the cruise ship industry use this port all year long? Should one expect much cruise ship passenger traffic at the center on Easter Sunday?

Re: Your Query -
1. The Heritage Centre will be open on Easter Sunday 9.30 to 18.00
2. The Trains schedule will be the normal Sunday times
3. There will be no Cruise Liners in on that day - there will be one in on the
following day (Monday)
I do hope that you will enjoy your visit to our lovely town and that you have a memorable time in Ireland

I had sent a note to the genealogy person but have not gotten a response to my inquiry. We will be at your center on Aug. 15th. in the am. I would like to work with a genealogist as this was what is bringing to Ireland. I was told that you do not always have on available. Would someone please get back to me on this. Thank you, Diane

I don't get involved with that sort of stuff, however I did note that there wasn't a facility available at the visitor centre as far as I could see. There were some very good displays and really good information about the Titanic herself, life on board tc.
