About
Titanic Experience Cobh is a permanent visitor centre, located in the original White Star Line Ticket Office in the centre of Cobh town (formally known as Queenstown) in what was the departure point for the final 123 passengers who boarded the Titanic. Our visitor experience is presented in two parts. The first is an exciting immersive audio visual tour retracing the steps of the 123 passengers who boarded Titanic from Queenstown on April 11th 1912. Experience their anticipation of the long journey ahead and their new life waiting in America. With Fourth Officer Boxall as your virtual guide and using innovative audio visual technology and replica set designs, ‘passengers’ will experience what life would have been like on board for those 123 Queenstown Passengers. Passengers will share the excitement of boarding the most Luxurious liner of her time and feel the horror of the tragedy on that fateful night on the 15th April 1912.

Rushed, felt like a production line.
I have brought small groups on 3 occasions and will not be going again. The tours were rushed, the Guides allowed no time for questions. The next group were being brought through before we were ready so we had to move on. It felt like a money making exercise, rather than people actually interested in providing a valuable experience. I regularly bring small groups to many such places but have stopped recommending this experience. This is a shame as it could be so much better if staff had more time and actually seemed to care about the experience. Two out of the three times the lift was not working and we had to go to a cafe whilst it got fixed. One of these times we had phoned ahead to check and was informed that it was working. Not really good enough.

    Okay but no better
My wife and I couldn't agree on the rating. She would have given it four stars, but I wrote this review. I found the place interesting enough, but it tried to tell too many stories at once, and it was all a bit disjointed as a result. Still, it was worth a visit.

Not recommended if you are hard of hearing or partially sighted!
My daughter loves the film and was keen to visit while on our holiday in Ireland. It was 4 hours driving in order to visit. So a full, long day! I am hard of hearing and partially sighted and was granted just a 20% discount but my husband who is my carer was not given any discount at all! (Many places allow Carer’s free). I was surprised to find they have no loop system or assistance of any kind. We were provided with a tour guides script when we explained I wouldn’t be able to hear the guide and asked for something. However, this was just A4 typed pages - the actual script with directions for the tour guides to use! The problem is, much of the tour is in darkness, so how was I expected to read the script? Even someone with good eyesight would have struggled. The videos had no captions/subtitles on them and the dialogue wasn’t provided in the script! After 10 minutes, when led into pitch darkness yet again, I decided I had to leave the tour and my husband took me out. I made him go back in, as didn’t want to ruin it for him and of course our 12 year old daughter was still on the tour. They finished the tour without me. I found the experience extremely distressing and upsetting. It seems they don’t care about people with disabilities at all. In this day and age I expect better. And the content of the script which I read was ‘meh’, perhaps you had to be able to fully participate to appreciate it. But I couldn’t so wouldn’t know.

    Titanic Information Overview
Having been to the Titanic Experience in Belfast last year, we were really looking forward to visiting the Cobh experience. It is totally different and underwhelming versus what we were expecting. There was a guide who brought us from room to room, all over in an hour. If there wasn't a guide you would complete the tour in 15/20 minutes. Overall, we felt that they could have done more to mirror the Belfast experience somewhat. The small building probably dictates what they can do. Overall, we were glad we went, another one off the bucket list.

    Tourist trap beware
Tourist trap at its finest. This museum is lackluster. The only thing that’s authentic is the station you see in the pic (white building and black windows). There’s 4-5 rooms and you watch short videos talking about the people of the Titanic. Two rooms are staged as to what a cabin looks like for 3rd class and 1st class passengers. I can read about the Titanic and learn a lot more. I get it, they need to make money somehow and this is a short 50 mins tour.

    Dissatisfied
Drove 3 hours to visit the place on 8/10/23, walked in and was told to come back in 20 minutes for the next tour and were directed to coffee shop across the road. Came back 15 mins later and were told that tour was full and to come back in an hour by a somewhat smug member of staff. He actually smirked when I said that he told us to come back in 20 mins in the first place. I should've purchased tickets when I went in first but they should also have suggested purchasing tickets.

    Do not waste your time
Not really sure what the point of this was, but my friends and I all thought this was a TOTAL waste of time. People were very nice, but you pretty much walk in to different rooms and watch films with bad actors, and you're supposed to pretend you are on the Titanic. Very disappointing.

Poor experience off a cruise ship
I booked online for a specific time whilst on a cruise ship. The online booking process should be in a museum too as it didn’t work properly and to cut a long story short resulted in us having to wait for 2 hours. Cranky bored kids as a result! Found the tour ok, great staff, very enthusiastic and helpful. But for us in hindsight, the issues we had online and the long wait ruined it. It also felt way over capacity, far too many people crammed into small rooms. I guess they are trying to take advantage of the sales opportunity a large cruise ship offers which is understandable I guess.

It was an amazing time! So friendly staff and I had the chance to make the tour completely in German, because I was alone. So they changed everything in German. Thank you so much for that!
The tour it self was amazing too, you are one of the passengers of the titanic and can explore a little bit of the experience (as the name says) from boarding to the end of the tour.

This was our 7th time doing this tour, and honestly every time has been more interesting than the last.

We have friends visiting from Canada and took them to the Titanic Experience in Cobh yesterday. Our tour-guide, a fantastic lady named Joan was just incredible.
Her knowledge and expertise was exceptional, as was her sense of humour and her natural story telling ability - making for an absolutely outstanding experience.

We all enjoyed this experience tremendously, and can not recommend it highly enough.

Go for it, I can guarantee you won't regret it.

I was really excited to check this out, I’m a total history nerd and this is up my alley. I love the premise of a real person who got on the Titanic.

Sadly it didn’t live up to expectations. The guided part was INCREDIBLY rushed (and really felt pointless). There are a lot of videos and it’s very timed. So not really sure what the point of the guide was.

There was little to no time for questions, and there are all these little titanic tid bits on the walls…. But it was so rushed you don’t have time to read them.

I was also excited to see the recreations of the cabins, I didn’t get a chance to really look. She talked than we were off to the next. (Also WHY is there no second class cabin?). I have no idea if what I saw was to scare or not.

I would have been much happier to just be sent through with an audio tour or something to read and let me enjoy at my leisure. Overall, I don’t recommend.

You get most of the same info in a much more enjoyable format plus extras by taking the titanic trail tour, use your time and money there!

(Also everyone in our group was 3rd class and dead… probably accurate, but super depressing )

The experience was surprisingly decent and I learned a lot about some less known facts surrounding Titanic.
If I had to voice one negative aspect is that the group size during our visit was too large for the rooms, which meant that it was difficult to follow the commentary and the guided tour felt rushed. We literally heard the next group in the next room which ruined the immersive idea of experience.

We highly recommend visiting here if you are in Cobh. Joan was our tour guide and she was very informative. Learned new things about the titanic and the interactive part at the end is a lot of fine. Joan was very friendly annd even suggested places for us to eat in the evening and gave us places to walk to for great views of the town.

If you are in Cobh, the Titanic experience is well worth a visit. The tour is short but informative and the tour guides are very friendly. I was particularly touched by the personal stories of the Irish families who boarded the ill-fated ship at Cobh. Standing on the very quay that they embarked from was particularly poignant. The admission fee is reasonable and the experience is only a short walk from the railway station.

We had a fantastic afternoon at the Titanic experience. The tour was excellent and our guide, Jackie, really brought the whole experience to life.

We also enjoyed a lunch in the Titanic bar and restaurant which was delicious!

This is a must see exhibit for history fans! The tour is from a first hand experience of people who boarded (and disembarked) the Titanic at the last boarding before heading out to sea. Remarkably well done perspectives and information from the actual White Star dock and more. Shout out to Joan for her wonderful tour!

Last port of call for the Titanic. If you aren’t going to Belfast, go to Cobh for this experience! Plus, Cobh is a beautiful town on the water. The Titanic bar and grill is a great restaurant, just below the museum.
