Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Bantry Market is held every Friday with the 1st Friday of each month generally being larger and occasionally having the addition of more livestock.
Most weeks there are a selection of street food stalls, tool and clothing stalls as well as car boot style stalls.
Frequently there is at least one stall selling chickens and ducks and every week there is a greengrocer stall.
Situated around the main square and in small car park if needed.
Can be a pleasant hour or two stroll.

A complete surprise to me when buying the fishing permit. Trout had to wait as the market looked too good to miss.
A great combination of Curio stalls, Food stalls, Vegetable stands, and Garden / Horticulture stuff Book stalls.
Thoroughly enjoyed the visit and left with a doz Duck eggs.
Will definitely return soon for the Friday show.

Nice market to spend a couple of hours. Particularly nice cheese stall. There are some stalls with rather random old second hand stuff on but worth stopping if you are passing.

It's all here in one spot! I bought bunches of farm fresh root vegetables from a farmer speaking Gaelilc. Then I found the Crafts Artisans tent and bought a lovely hand-turned & carved wooden bowl, and necklaces with miniature real wild flowers incased in acrylic. We crossed the street from the crafts tent and had a lovely pub lunch. We left with an antique bespoke "seed cupboard" bought and delivered for 70 euro. It was truly an outing of West Cork cultural appreciation not to be missed!

Bantry Market Day on Fridays is, weather permitting, an absolute treat. You have to be prepared for whatever the sky throws down, not to mention the whims of the winds. What IS guaranteed are a number of excellent food stalls: high-quality baked goods and local cheeses, plus a good choice of organic produce. Little Red organic skin care is my particular favourite, worth searching out, not always there. It's a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, no hard sell, just an honest country market. Delightful.

If you want to see Bantry at it's most vibrant, visit during the Spring or Summer on a sunny Friday. Bantry Market brings the town to life and is one of the oldest markets in Ireland. The first Friday of the month is normally a bigger market and the first Friday in August is traditionally the big one (weather permitting) but it's on every Friday. Willy sells organic vegetables outside O'Sullivan's Chemist and Sheila's falafel's are amazing. She's either by The Anchor pub or down near the Bank of Ireland. Stock up on cakes, cookies and hummus here if you have a sweet tooth. The Olive and Cheese Stalls are opposite the Bank of Ireland and the Gubbeen stall which sells lovely chorizo, bacon and cheese, is next to them. On the Square are usually more food stalls and local market traders. Morris, the Veg Man on the Square sells Duck eggs and all the veg you could ever need. Danny sells chickens and spices outside Harrington Estates and the best coffee is next to the Pizza truck on the Square!
