About
Just 5 minutes from Bantry next to the main Cork road (N71). We ride on private tracks through ancient woodland climbing gently through the forest before emerging above the tree line, riding safe paths past heather, gorse and beautiful fuschia with breathtaking views down Bantry Bay. If you're not very experienced one of our guides will walk with you. Riding hats & body protectors provided.

We took the kids pony trekking at Bantry Bay Pony Trekking.
They were lovely to deal with, extremely informative and straight forward. Provided all information you could possibly need. From what to expect to how to get there with a direct link to their address.

We arrived a little late but everything was straight forward and friendly. We got boots, helmets and safety jackets and lead our horses into the outdoor arena. (The kids were lead as they were beginners). They have different sized mounting blocks to get onto the horses easily. One of our party was very nervous and two had physical disabilities but non of it was a problem. We felt well looked after and the trekking through woods with views of bantry bay at a few locations was fantastic. At the end of the tek they asked us if we wanted a picture taken of our group (with our camera) which was nice.

A lovely experience all around.

While we did somewhat enjoy this activity and the scenery was fantastic, the staff were not very friendly and lacked enthusiasm. The horses were quiet and easy to manage for beginners.

Arranged a private trek for myself a friend and her three children aged 8,7 & 5, only myself had any experience riding. This was arranged quickly and easily and when we turned up everyone was treated in a friendly manner. The horses were all excellent and body protectors were provided fur everyone. The children were all lead and we did a trek through beautiful countryside over looking bantry bay. I rode Penney who was just fabulous , my friend rode Luna and the kids rode chesty, misty and Charlie who were all so well behaved.i couldn't recommend this centre highly enough and i hope to be back

We arranged a trek as a group of 5 friends, the majority having never been on a horse previously. Hats, boots and body protectors were provided. The horses we rode were large Irish cobs which were very steady and sure footed. The staff came round with us to provide assistance and support. The views on the trek were stunning we could see for miles. It was a fun hour with excellent staff and views.

My 4 year old grandson has attended 4 lessons. He looks forward to each lesson and has developed his skills beyond anything we could have hoped. He has been shown all the horses and has practiced both indoors and outdoors. He is even looking forward to extending his skills to the equine husbandry.

We had a wonderful experience. Our daughter had a lesson before the three of us went out on a trek of the area. It was beautiful although the fog limited the views - but no one can control the weather. Our daughter loved her lesson under the direction of Georgia and our guide was professional and fun. Would do it again!

Thanks for your kind words. So glad you had fun and sorry about the fog which is unusual in this year of almost constant sunshine! Nice to know your daughter valued her lesson and that our guide was good on your trek. Thanks again for taking the time to give us a review.

Travelled from Douglas to do the pony trekking in Bantry, was not disappointed. The views were spectacular of Bantry Bay. I was a bit nervous to ride on my own, so one of the young guys guided me tho whole way, had a great chat on the trek. The horses were beautiful and very well kept and all the staff were very friendly. Great value for money, we didn't have enough cash with us and were given the option to pay by PayPal, which was nice. Would definitely recommend this trek, you won't be disappointed! Thanks again for the lovely experience.

Thanks for the lovely review and so glad that you enjoyed your time with us! We try to make sure that everyone has a great time here and nervous riders are always welcome. A lot of our regular visitors started out as nervous riders ended up having lessons and never look back. Thanks again and hope to see you soon, we're open all year and Douglas is not far.

We made the hour long trip from the Kenmare area and could not have been happier. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Both my husband and teenage son were complete beginners and everything is provided for a safe comfortable ride. We are extremely glad we made the drive to Bantry to visit this particular stable and would do it again in a heart beat. One note to trip advisor readers if you're using their directions. If you're coming from the north along N71 and heading south from Bantry Bay the stable will be on your left right after R591 there's a big orange sign. We made the mistake of turning onto R591 - don't do this. You access the establishment from N71. Make the trip, great value for your money.

Hi Love to Travel903 and thanks very much for your lovely review. We are pleased you had such a super time with us. It is our ambition that everyone who visits can have a great experience, whether they have been riding all their lives or have never ridden before. Many of our riders come to us year after year and even remember the names of the horses they rode on their last visit! I will pass your comments along to our staff who will appreciate your taking the time to review Bantry Bay Pony Trekking. Thanks again, Andrew
