Was in there yesterday 11th November 21 around 5pm, the receptionist was just terrible, whoever hires and staff trains here really needs to take note as it has been said in previous reviews and when talking to colleague today they had similar experience on thier visit to the pool with thier kids, she was just plainly rude, abrupt and is someone who is unfit for the public facing job, I will be surely telling my fellow colleagues new to the area to avoid this place. Rest of staff seemed very pleasant and informed and facilities good but I can imagine the business that must be lost by allowing someone this unprofessional as the first point of contact.

It was our first time back to the swimming pool since lock-down and I was well impressed with the new wet-side changing rooms. Lovely new floors (great for kids and elderly) and changing areas, fabulous job!
Pool was a lovely temperature too.

If visiting Bunratty don't forget to book a swim at shannon leisure center great system in place for pool your own cubicle and locker for duration of your swim.

I have been a member of Shannon leisure centre for 22 years. The gym facility is excellent and the gym staff are great and friendly.....Piotr and Remy are exceptional fitness instructors and are a credit to the place. The problem i have been experiencing recently is with the management and the wetside pool area. I agree with Catherine and EWE1891 on their previous reviews when they said that the sauna and the steam rooms are smelly and unhygienic. As recent as two weeks ago i went to go into the sauna and the smell of urine nearly made me sick. I mentioned this to an off duty staff member who notified an on duty staff member to look into this straight away, I observed this staff member spraying some type of freshener to mask the smell.....not good enough. It should have been closed off and scrubbed with disinfectant and power-sprayed! Also the hook on the shower doors (which management have said would be sorted out asap in February!)...are still not fixed to a standard. Only one of the two doors have been fixed. Considering you have two caretakers employed and you management to only fix one door out of tow (well done!). The receptionists have no customer skills and per EDL and Queen Bee have pointed out on their previous reviews nothing has changed. (Weekend Staff are awful). May is lovely and very professional but the rest have a lot to be desired. PS there is faeces in the urinals for the past 8 months....have pictures to prove this.....please clean this up!!!

Hi Brendan. Thank you for the positive feedback about our facilities and staff. I will be sure to pass the word along. Whilst I am not aware of any issues in the toilets or Sauna/Steam rooms it will be looked at. This is not a true reflection on the excellent job our maintenance team or pool side staff do in what is an extremely busy and well cared for Centre. Normally our customers are very happy with the high level of service and standard of our facilities.

Overall, I think this is a good gym. The staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming, and the gym is well equipped. The one downside for me though is the shower area. The last gym I was in had doors with locks and hooks, instead of shower curtains, which was a lot more convenient. I think if doors with hooks could be added, it would be a small addition but a great improvement.

Hi Catherine. Thank you for your visit to our Centre and for the positive comments and feedback. As part of ongoing maintenance of the Centre we plan on updating all changing areas which includes changing rooms for our gyms as soon as possible. In the mean time we will get the hooks up ASAP.

I've only used the Gym here & I have to say the facilities are second to none in Shannon there's no other gym anywhere in the locality that can match it . Staff are friendly the place is spotless ( I've been in some gyms where the Hoover's look sad & depressed) there's a wide variety of equipment to use, as with all gyms depending on what time of the day you visit will probably impact on how you feel about your visit so if you go early less people go later & obviously more people so more equipment gets used . It's actually quite clever how it's laid out with two gym rooms the 1st with all the thread mills,bikes & machines & free weights up to 20kg then the second room has all the heavier weights from 20s up so if your a gym novice it's not off putting having to watch someone lift what looks like the size of a small car . I would highly recommend a visit here if you go in with an open mind you won't be disappointed . Just a side note on one of the other reviews about knowing someone who had something stolen from here , that happens everywhere I once had property go missing from a police station there are lockers provided .

My son received Ducklings lessons as a Christmas present. We went the first week and he was so frightened and he screamed the place down. The instructors were able to show him the fun side of the pool. Now, we have gone four times and he can't wait to go every week. Its a complete change from the first time. The instructors are doing a fantastic job.

I brought my 5 year old son for swimming lessons here. The changing rooms were filthy every time I went there. Hair in the showers, and grime everywhere. Over the course of the lessons (a 10 week course I think ) he had (maybe) 3 different instructors, non of which he could name. And as I couldn't go on the deck I couldn't see who be teaching him that day. There were so many children in the class he spent most of the time hanging off the bar, and at the end of the course, not even a 'thank you','goodbye', 'well done' or a certificate for all his good work. I won't be bringing him back there for more lessons.
I've been to exercise classes here and they are fine but only because its so local and the range of classes are good.

I am only talking about the pool and the sauna part of the centre. It feels neglected. Only one hair drier for many visitors, broken lockers, no segregated showers, the seats in the changing rooms are so narrow it is impossible to sit on, many changing room has no hanger as well. Some of there staff at the reception are very unfriendly particularly on Sundays.
