The pathway to the castle is not so good for anyone not too good on their feet, there are now a lot of stones all along the pathway, which is great as it is no longer muddy underfoot (until almost at the end) so it isn't so easy to walk over, and the last part can be very muddy, so... More

We were on the Sky Loop road & took a lovely short walk to the castle. There were delicious blackberries on the walk & beautiful songbirds to enjoy their calls. The castle has some remaining decorative facades. Well worth the walk

We really enjoyed our trip to Clifden Castle. The scenery walking down to it was great, also the cows were almost within touching distance, definitely make you feel like you're in Ireland. We spent about an hour here checking out the different rooms and taking pictures, all the while being serenaded by the constant buzz of working bees collecting their... More

Definitely worth a visit to see this castle ruin. It is a short 10 minute hike to get from the parking by the gates to the actual ruin, so wear sturdy shoes, and enjoy the walk down to tour the grounds. There are some horses, sheep and cattle to entertain you along the way. The castle grounds are interesting, and... More

It is remarkable to me that Irish people cannot see the potential of places like this and invest in them to restore them. I am saddened that this structure has not been taken into care by the state. Well worth the visit as it is, but how wonderful would it be to see it restored and open!

The ruined castle is a short but Ricky walk off the Sky Road. Well worth the walk there. The castle is in ruins but fun to explore and walk around and through.

We drove right past the car park area since we were following GPS, but there is a little area right where the beach road and sky road meet and you walk through the stone arch to join the path. It was cold and rainy the day we went but still an easy walk to the castle. The castle itself was... More

Stopped here on our Sky Road drive. It was well worth a look. Please be aware there are people residing in a rear residence. We made sure not to park in the driveway and to respect their privacy. The castle sin Ireland are outstanding.

It is so hidden and you can hardly read about it in the travel books. But it is worth the visit definitly. 15 minutes walking from the parking, even in the rain it was nice! Very sad that nobody cares about such beautiful place, it is just left there. The outsidde walls are in suprising good conditions but the inside... More
