Snuggled in a wooded setting among the rich quiet farmlands of the Golden Vale by the River Maigue, Adare is a model village dating from the time of the Norman conquest. It has been home to the Earls of Dunraven (Quin Family) for over three centuries and is located on the Limerick to Tralee road, the N21, a great pit stop for those on the way to the Ring of Kerry. The Adare Heritage Centre, located in the middle of this charming town with its many thatched houses, allows you to step back in time through an informative historical exhibition, also incorporating a tourist office, gift, craft and heraldry outlets, and a restaurant. During Summer months - June-September - The Desmond Castle tour exclusively runs from the Heritage Centre 7 days a week, with a new tour every hour.

This a worthwhile stop while in the pretty village of Adare. There is a nice cafe, one or two souvenir type shops, as well as a helpdesk providing information on attractions in the area. The ladies at the desk are very helpful, as I had emailed queries prior to my visit as well and they were fantastic to provide me... More

The village of Adare is quite small and very quaint. If you have some time to walk about the town I would recommend a stop into the Adare Heritage Centre. There are two small shops and a desk where you can get travel information. There is also a restaurant where you can grab a meal for a very reasonable price.... More

Visited the Adare Heritage Centre on a recent week-end stay in Fitzgerald Woodlands Hotel. Thought it was a lovely centre and a great asset to have in the lovely historic village or Adare. Staff were very pleasant and we had a very tasty lunch in the dovecot restaurant, beautiful shops if a little pricey

Adare Heritage Centre is set in the beautiful village of Adare Co Limerick. All the staff were extremely helpful in answering my queries, in particular the lady at the information desk situated in the middle of the centre. The centre contains some quality gift shops and a lovely little restaurant. Curran's Heraldry provided me with much appreciated information on the... More
