beautiful small heritage center in a working Church of Ireland
Oct 2019
I was privileged to enjoy a private tour of the center as I was the only visitor at the time. The church was rescued and a system worked out for it to be open as a heritage center 6 days a week and for religious purposes on Sunday. There is a very beautiful if uncharacteristic Harry Clarke window, the exquisite chalice from the Costello chapel and a large painting by a Swedish master that had been meant for the church rejected for its concentration on the Blessed Mother and eventually returned to it intended abode. There are also many books on display by Leitrim authors, and other memorabilia. Well worth the visit.

Sobering

Just surreal to see that this old workhouse is still in use as a hospital. The top floor is open to visitors and there are informative displays and a video to watch.

History made simple
Oct 2016 • Couples
Went and experienced this piece of history very well laid out and the story told in a way that it was easy to understand. The highlight for me was looking at the organ in St Georges Church and sad to see what people had to endure in the past.

Only by appointment

trekked up hill in rain to visit only to find it was shut. You can only view by appointment. Sadly the Famine Cemetery Memorial also at this site was a disappointment as it was neglected and had graffiti on it. Very sad to see it not cared for.
