The Costello Memorial Chapel in Carrick - on -Shannon is a place one should visit if in the area ,its so small and quaint ,very well looked after and the history is well worth reading

Well worth a little visit while you are in Carrick on Shannon. Just a moment out to admire the beauty of this little chapel and to feel the love and devotion that went into its creation.

Really beautiful church. This is the smallest church in Ireland. Built in 1877 by Edwards Costello as a memorial for his wife. There is no charge and as it is a small church it will take no more than 20 minutes to visit .

While looking at dead bodies and exposed coffins may not be peoples idea of an attraction that you may want to go and see this is one you might.. The Chruch is no more than a room based on a simple design with glass floor...More





This little church is fascinating and should not be missed. It's tiny. The smallest in Europe and second smallest in the world. The story of the church is a very romantic one. It's in Carrick on Shannon . It's across the road from Vittos restaurant.

Have been coming to carrick for years and walked passed here numerous times without even noticing it. Only realised it was here when a friend mentioned it so made sure to pay a visit. Love the story behind it and well worth a visit.


Had previously been advised to see this church whilst in Carrick on Shannon and am so glad we did. very interesting and worth a visit.

Its a delight to see that the local community have been taking care of the Church and keeping it in superb condition. Definately worth a visit to say you were in the 2nd smallest church in the world. Also say a prayer for your loved...More
