- ekcpetersonAtlanta, Georgia266 contributionsA MUST see!Popped in here by advisement from our tour guide. Was told it's the oldest pub in Kinsale. You walk in and you're immediately transported back in time (with the exception of current people at hand). A must visit. It will not disappoint.Visited June 2022Written 5 July 2022
- wanderinglou77Guisborough, United Kingdom13 contributionsA little Irish gemAn absolute traditional irish gem. Everything about this venue is all about it’s age. Wonky walls, worn stairs, coal smokey fires, shabby furniture traditional beers which are very reasonably priced all of which add to this locations character. If you enjoy a non-pretentious pub then you will love this place.Visited February 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 5 February 2023
- Marie MurphyKillarney, Ireland1 contributionFantastic AtmosphereWe visited The Greyhound and Market bars last week and sampled such warm hospitality! The staff were so friendly and gave us great tips on the local area. We all had delicious pizzas and drinks! We dined al fresco which was an added bonus. Great to see social distancing guidelines being adhered to by the staff yet not taking away from a fun, holiday atmosphere! We will definitely return! We stumbled upon this pub just off the main drag, and were rewarded with a bustling scene of happy folks overflowing unto the outdoor patio out front. Fun time, alas, no food.

Stopped in for a pint on. Nice May Day as the patio looked inviting. Staff was friendly and the pub has charm. Overall it was good enough for a second pint

Would never return to this bar. The owner was one of the rudest, angriest individuals I’ve ever encountered in the hospitality business. He seems to resent customers and having to serve drinks. He speaks to his staff in a disgraceful way. I couldn’t believe what I watched last weekend. The barman was lovely - despite being belittled at every opportunity - he still took the time to chat pleasantly to us. His boss could learn a thing or two from him.

You must go here. If you want ambience, atmosphere and good craic the greyhound is the only place to be
Ger the manager is for sure neither an oil painting, nor is he the best communicator or orator in the world. However his focus is perfection and Jesus H does he deliver. The tastiest god-damned pints in kinsale/cork/Ireland. And he always has the rugby on.
My only negative would be I brought a trophy with me which a local neanderthal decided to keep and placed out of reach within the bar. That said trophies come and go, but good night's out stay forever!

Genuinely the worst experience I've ever had in a bar. Extremely under staffed, owner seems like he just hates people in general. Unbelievably rude, zero people skills. Toilets are filthy.
I don't think one round came out to our table as we had ordered. When we brought it to their attention we were told to wait, while they took orders from other tables.
We actually got up and left in the end,
So many bars and cafés were delighted to have people back in after everything going on and couldn't have been more accommodating.
How this place has got anymore than 1 star is mind boggling.
Never again. Sell up and let someone make the most of it.

We had a terrible experience here that finished off an otherwise great weekend in kinsale.
Manager was extremely rude, from what we could see, arguing with everyone. The staff couldn't keep up with the capacity the pub was trying to provide for which meant delayed orders and no social distancing. They were trying to separate our group which then meant we were sitting on top of other people we didn't know, made no sense whatsoever, if they want to enforce this there needs to be less tables. When our drinks finally came after 40 mins we tried to order another round as we knew this would then take ages to come and we were told quite harshly we already have a drink and couldn't order another. The staff were just unwelcoming, impatient and rude, I would not advise anyone to go here, we had a lovely experience in all other bars in kinsale.

Terrible experience!! Understaffed and the ones who were there had zero training and some were very rude!! Witnessed owner shouting and roaring at 3 tables of people! Waiting endless amounts of time for drinks! Would not be returning so many other amazing places in kinsale to visit with fantastic service and staff!

Please avoid. This place in an absolute dump. As far as cleanliness is concerned its a complete disgrace. The stink of sewage permeates through the place. The service is atrocious and the owner, a tall slim grey haired guy is the rudest most unwelcoming individual I met in Kinsale. Dont be fooled by the positive reviews. This place is not for visitors to Kinsale. Seems that the staff just look after the locals who drink there. Plenty of other pubs in Kinsale are much more welcoming to visitors. The owner is the big negative in this dive.

Coming to Kinsale on this Saturday evening with a group of 28 golfers aged from 20 to 70. I was wondering what kind of music will you have on and what time will it start. Some of us would like traditional music, more of us would like just a singer with a guitar doing ballads and some of the younger ones would be looking for a band type of entertainment. Travelling to Cork Thursday morning so any information would be appreciated by Wednesday please

You should just contact the pub directly about the music but good luck getting 28 people in there!
