Amazing pub only a 25 min walk from Kinsale! Great spot to catch the last of the summer sun with a pint and good company.

Had a few pints there but all the food going to other customers looked fabulous. Would go back for the food. Great atmosphere and location. Staff young and friendly. Pub very busy on a Saturday.

The walk uphill to St James Fort is amazing! All the greenery and the view from up the hill is breathtaking and magnificent. The road is adorned with trees and hedges on both sides which give a very calm and relaxed atmosphere. The wonderful view of the Kinsale harbour and beach is spectacular. Photo lovers will surely spend some valuable time up there. One can also stop to enjoy a pint of beer and good food at the only pub and restaurant down the road near the sea. Then St James Fort is an experience in itself not to be missed. This place will be stored in our memory forever but will surely visit again!

Staff were unprofessional and rude. When asked if they were still serving food at 7:20, they said no and pushed past us. Apparently food was being served until 8pm that evening and did not seem to be an issue when a local asked to order……Ignored further when trying to purchase drinks at the bar. Have been coming to the Bulman for years and have never had this level of poor service.

Not the establishment it once was!! A week ago today we went back for our annual visit and wow has this changed, not the numbers !!as they were waiting for the door to open at 12.30 and the place was full within 20 mins but no welcome from management like before only the young staff trying and doing their best to keep things going. It is not the menu or food quality that's keeping the Bulman going, its the location but for management remember this can only last so long.
We were blown away by the vastly reduced and changed menu, right alongside a busy fishing port where other establishments pride themselves on fresh fish the Bulman had no Salmon,Smoked Salmon,Lobsters,Prawns,Crab Claws, and on the day had just the Catch of the Day,Oysters and Mussels as their Seafood selection.Menu now has Chicken Wraps,Spare Ribs and Cheese Quiche still coming in at the €17 euro mark, the Quiche was no bigger then the width of a Tea cup and at this price "i dont think so".Ribs were not marinated just pressure cooked and a sauce poured over them so they were actually tasteless. Squid, mussels and chowder were simple but nice, two beers and a coffee and at €74 euro all in for lunch that was a poor effort. Hospitality, menu and flavour need to be addressed here big time.

I first tried this pub back in September 2020. I typically used to go to Man Friday and fancied a change. On that occasion the food was wonderful! So much so, that I went back the next day for lunch. I returned again in 2021 and it was OK. Today I was on business in Cork and drove to Kinsale, especially for lunch in The Bulman. I don't know what has happened in the last two years. Perhaps with Covid and business being so difficult, every effort was being made to thrive and survive. Now it's the opposite. The menu is rather limited and I was advised three of the choices were not available. I opted for the mussels-a large portion-which came with chips. The meal arrived rather quickly-almost too quickly! The pile of mussels were not steaming as one would have expected for a freshly cooked meal and with mussels, it's important they are cooked correctly and are present come hot. In fact, the top layer of flesh in each shell was cold. As I moved down into the pile of shells, the meat was warmer. The chips were lukewarm and rather tasteless. Overall a very disappointing meal and not good value at €23. I only ate the meal as I was so hungry rather than enjoying it. I suspect the mussels were microwaved rather than cooked properly in a pot-how else could they come so quickly and be a mixture of cold and lukewarm flesh? I will never come back to the Bulman again and advise anyone else to make a better choice. Kinsale is supposed to be a gourmet destination. On top of the poor meal, I observed the staff are mostly young, dour and non-smiling. Perhaps they know something the punters don't?

Called to book a table and was cheekily told that would not be possible as the kitchen wasn’t open. When I asked why the smart answer the guy said he was joking. Strange sense of humour !!!!!
Missed opportunities and wrong attitude.

Great place to stop and have food and drinks. The staff very friendly and the food excellent. We ate upstairs in the restaurant. We had a selection of fresh fish and risotto, burgers and steaks. Everything was delicious.

Used to be one of the finest places in Cork, however recent visits have been really poor, fish both times was overcooked, staff untrained, making mistakes with orders and service was incredibly slow. Reduced menu doesn't leave many options, particularly for any vegetarian guests. Hoping management step in to address the issues here as really was one of the finest places in Cork to eat, a shame!
