Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited this pub on a Saturday night, the live band they had were brilliant however this was the only positive.

To start we were sticking to floor around the bar area as we moved. Service was slow. At 12.25 we were told the bar was closed no last orders called lights simply switched off. By 12.50 we had been approached 4 times the bouncer and rudely told to finish the drinks and get out also handed plastic glasses for our drinks.

There was a group of 10 of us, we were by no means disruptive, we didn't sip over drinks or try delay at all after the first time we were told to leave. It is unacceptable to expect people to be completely finished drinks within 20 minutes of closing time and even more unacceptable to have bouncers behave like bullies to patrons.

Avoid this pub if it were possible to give 0/5 for a review this place definitely deserves it for their customer service.

Popped in there yesterday on my trip to Kinsale , I would call it a Man's pub , rather then a Lady's place , having said that I was made very welcome , as the American Lady that entered soon after , again everyone chats to each other ( I'm not used to this having lived outside cork for years) Amazing open fire , great Barman , and got table service 👌--would visit again if I was not Solo 👍👍👍😋

Great little country pub. Had good simple food but the beer was cold and plenty available. Quaint little pub in seaside village with plenty of atmosphere and friendly local clientele

I stopped in for a pint and to watch the Cork vs. Kerry Football match and I got a good sense of the passion the have for their football.

I was hoping to experience the Irish sporting culture and I wasn't disappointed. Pint of Murphy's was the best I've had.

I spent many hours at this pub to watch the final 2 matches of the Rugby resulting in England placed 2nd behind Ireland. Very jovial while tense atmosphere due to the situation with the delicate point situation in the Rugby !! Loud, Raucous support for both England and Ireland. We were a bunch of English that were fully welcomed by the locals both during the match and on following visits. If in the area again would definitely call in.

I visited the bar with my wife for our 23rd year anniversary.

We met 3 Scots and an English man who were asked to leave because they were singing.

Doorman was embarrassed about the whole thing and said that it was the owner and he didn't see the problem.

Would not go back. Guy behind the bar I found was very arrogant. Maybe he doesn't like tourists. He claimed the scottsman was hitting the bar which was a lie. He was mearly tapping it to the song

Never again

We had to try Oscar Madison's for the name alone. The bartender said that the owner was a big fan of the Odd Couple and had met the actor and liked him so much that he changed the name of the bar. I never thought to ask him which actor he met, Walter Matthau or Jack Klugman. Anyway, we just stopped in for a Guinness but they also have tables out back if you want to be outside or have a smoke. It's in the middle of Kinsale so you can't miss it.

My husband and I went to Oscar Madison's the first time during the day. We were wondering around Kinsale and decided to stop in for a pint. We met Paul (owner) and chatted with him for a bit. There were not many in the bar (it was cold, raining and November). We sat at the bar. Chatted with Paul about Kinsale and he gave us suggestions as to where to eat and what to see.

We went back the next night with our friends and hung out with Paul and few locals. There is a large tv to watch sports.

We had so much fun we went back a third night to hang out with Paul's brother Matt. We barely got in the door before Matt was closing up. Matt was great! Ended up hanging out a couple hours.

Our last night in Kinsale we ended the night at Oscar Madison's - it was a Friday night and the streets were FULL of people. Had a great time with Paul and some locals.

My husband is going back to Kinsale in April and he will go back to Oscar Madison's!

ps - I read the review re paying for a bottle of soda. I totally get it. I like vodka drinks but didn't care to pay for a mini bottle of club soda. Very silly but most pubs/restaurants do this. :( Hope you will give Oscar Madison's another chance.

Viisted recently with my family during a recent trip to Kinsale . Given that it was an afternoon the pub was quite busy with many in the garden(yard) listening to the music on the nearby music stage .

The pub does not have soft drinks on draught and as such they are more expensive than the draught beer. ( I begrudge paying 4 Euro plus for a lime and soda) I think that the bar staff were embarrassed about having to charge me that price .
