We saw an ad about the Kinsale Mead co and mead tasting, so we decided to check it out. We're so glad that we did!

They're really friendly, down to earth and share their stories of how mead is produced and how they source their honey. We got to taste the different honey they use and once the tour is finished, you try out different mead.

Our favourite was the mead aged in the whiskey and bourbon barrels respectively ... so much so that we bought two bottles each :)

We didn't drive there - we walked up from the town (you get a great workout going up the hill and stairs!) :)

Highly recommend visiting the Kinsale Mead Co - it's the only mead producer in Ireland!

We stopped in for a quick flight and wow, my tastebuds and mind were blown by how incredible the mead was. A big thank you to Sam for sharing all of his knowledge and walking us through the tasting. We are so glad we stopped in!

An all round great experience. We were lucky enough to be the only two people on the last tour of the day. It was a fantastic place to be on a grey drizzly afternoon. The clear enthusiasm for their process and its vast history was palpable. The legends and laws were very interesting and delivered by someone with an obvious love for both the stories and the science of creating mead. The honey tasting was eye-opening and delicious, but the mead tasting was divine. The range of flavours and complexities were wonderful and the mulled mead really set you up to step back into the mizzle. You’ll be hard pressed not to walk away with a bottle…or several.

The tour was great. It was just the right length with some history and some discussion. The tour was informative and again, just the right length. The mead was delicious. It was not sweet and incredibly delicious. Very much worth the money and great activity.

We were given this tour as a birthday gift for my husband, and what a lovely gift it was. The tour was fun and interesting (Kate is very knowledgeable and also very funny!). It was great to see how honey from the local area and further afield is transformed into such an interesting and historic drink - topped off by a lovely tasting at the end. Would definitely recommend this as a lovely way to spend an hour or so in Kinsale! We will definitely recommend this to our Bed and Breakfast guests.

What a pleasant experience. Mead is very rare in the US so I was excited to try it. The tastings weren't overly sweet nor drowning in honey flavor. I was so surprised. I really enjoyed it and brought a couple of bottles home. The owner/brewer was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I'd be happy to go back. Worth your time to experience.

If you visit Kinsale, the Kinsale Mead Company is a must-do. The tour starts out with a fascinating history of mead, then a walk through of the distilling process and finally a tasting. You can buy several varieties of mead as well as the honey it’s made from.

This was a great experience for those interested in the history of both Ireland and alcohol. The tour is provided by the owner who was a wealth of information. The samples expanded our palate to another form of alcohol. Great rainy day (or any day) visit and not far out of Kinsale proper.
