About
We are a family run interpretive centre, just off the main road(R600)between Clonakilty and Timoleague/Kinsale).We are also located on the Wild Atlantic Way. We are open from Mid June to Mid September. At the centre we give presentations interpreting the life and times of Michael Collins. We begin with an audio visual presentation showing all the places connected with Michael Collins in West Cork, we also have a second audio visual consisting of archive footage. The most unique part of the presentation is our live lecture which is conducted by an expert historian who gives an account of the 'Big Fella's' life from 1906 until his death. We also have a full scale replica of the Ambush site in Beal na mBlath. We also do private Michael Collins tours.

A fantastic afternoon with Tim and Dolores at the Michael Collins Centre. Dolores greeted us with such a warm welcome and we continued to a wonderful display of artifacts, carefully and imaginatively displayed. Our kids loved the recreation of the vehicles of the Béal na Bláth ambush. The highlight was undoubtedly Tim’s highly engaging and informative presentation, his knowledge of and passion for the story of his relative Michael Collins and his role in Irish Independence was remarkable. An historically balanced and highly recommended experience for all the family. Thanks for a great afternoon Tim and Dolores.

Well worth a visit - Tim Crowley is a passionate and knowledgable local historian who has collated a fascinating collection of artefacts and memorabilia around his subject. Importantly, all of this is placed within a wider social and political context. Before you go, check timings of presentations.

I had a fantastic time at the Michael Collins centre in Castle View it about an 10 min drive outside Clonakilty. Tim Crowley, our tour guide was amazing. His knowledge is outstanding. An excellent family run Michael Collins experience, Tim has a wealth of information I could of listened to him all day, really informative. Definitely worth the stop off I'd highly recommend this. Tim's handbook which can be bought here has so much information and pictures well worth the purchase, my children were so happy they got to hold a rifle, sit up in the cars and Tim kindly signed their book.

The whole experience was brilliant from start to finish. We had a self guided tour, which gave us loads of time to look around and see all that was on display. Lovely gift shop too!

Had the pleasure of bringing a group of work colleagues here today, and while we had a variety of knowledge levels on the Michael Collins story, Tims delivery fully engaged both the casually interested and the diehard history fans.
A warm welcome was followed by a fascinating presentation at the centre which covered both national and local history, interspersed with personal stories and folklore which kept us enthralled, and the personal connection with many of the historical figures involved in the stories brought authenticity to the tales.
Complimenting this were the stories behind the on site displays and a well delivered slide show presentation centred on the Collins story and his untimely civil war demise.
We arranged for a site visit to the Collins family home and birthplace, and Tim accompanied us, giving us a very nice on site talk there.
Best wishes and all the best for the 2022 season.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the centre. Tim Crowley is an expert on Michael Collins and is a gifted presenter as he shares his knowledge of the life and times of Collins. COVID-19 restrictions were well respected and the booking process was easy. Overall it was an excellent way to spend a few hours in the company of a passionate aficionado exploring an extremely interesting topic.
