Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A beautiful secluded beach near Ballycotton. We went for a walk here after a meal and watched the sun set here. Really lovely place, would have loved a swim here.
Next time definitely.

Ballinamona Beach is part of a line of beaches from Silver Strand on edge of Ballycotton Village which connects to Ballinamona which in turn connects to Ardnahinch Beach which then connects to Garryvoe Beach etc etc...on it goes.
If you want to walk from Silver Strand along all the beaches which is few miles (don't know the exact mileage) you might need wellingtons as you will have to cross little rivers that appear from the bogs near the beaches or you can drive down little roads to each individual beach. Depending of time of year or how brave you are when it comes to cold water, you could always take off the shoes and socks and paddle across. All of these beaches are sandy but have something going for them daily. Your walk will change with each days weather, with each ebb and flow of tide and if tide is in full our out quite a distance. You can also go off beach and walk across the edges of local bogs. The fresh air is glorious and the views at any angle are gorgeous over to Ballycotton Islands or village, or at boats on the horizon or local fishing boats and across to Caple Island near Youghal. On your walk bring a picnic and pick a shady spot or pop into Garryvoe Hotel for coffee or Johns shop nearby for icecream or go into any of the local tearooms/cafes on route to beaches. You will see surfers, wind surfers, kite surfers, joggers, dog walkers and you will meet friendly people. East Cork has so much going for it so get out on these beaches and discover it for yourself. I adore every gorgeous shell and amazing coloured stones on these beaches. I have found an amethest, crystals and fossils while walking on Garryvoe beach. It really is an AMAZING spot.....AND its a free amenity.

Lovely clean beach located between Shanagarry and Ballycotton. Great for walking smells at times at low water seaweed smell rather than sewage.
Last time i visited car park needed resurfacing There is a bird sanctuary nearby and is also popular with visitors.

Stunning place, really is. But the smell of raw sewage is nauseating. Such a shame. Near Shanagarry and Ballycotton , the latter has a great cliff walk and doesn't smell. The former is near Ballymaloe which is just lovely.

We often pop down to this beech as it is easy to access, sandy and level enough for walking. Our dog loves chasing a ball into the river that crosses from the left side. Garryvoe is nice, but you can not walk dogs on it when busy. When the river is low in summer you can cross it to walk down to Garryvoe. There is a car park for this beech, 2M height restriction is in place, the lane leading to the car park is to narrow to allow tall vehicles to park along it, so camper vans are best going somewhere else.

😁 Love Love Love this beach !!!
The scenery is breathtaking..
Opposite the beach there is a kid's playing park, which is a great balance to the site. Water & surrounding area is pure and clean.
The little shop is cute , with lovely 99's available. Also the hotel is a sight to behold as the huge sized building is old but modern in a sheek style which is uncompromising with pride. I really recommend this location. One of the best beaches in Ireland... 🏝🌅

nice beach. usually quiet. good for bird watching and dog walking. waterproof shoes recommended as lots of tidal streams. Yes, there is an odour but it's a naturally occurring one that comes from algae and has nothing to do with sewage! That's also why so many birds cluster here!

This is a really hidden gem. Maybe a little too much seaweed on the beach for some people, but it is so peaceful and remote that really only locals tend to be here. Families catching the last few days before the summer holidays end, really is so pretty.
Looking outwards, Ballycotton Lighthouse stands guard on the mouth of the harbour. Garryvoe is off to the left in the distance.

A lovely place to walk or spend a few hours bathing and swimming.

Parking is limited, bring your own food if planning a stay on the beach - and don't forget to bring your waste with you as there are no facilities for disposing of them on site.
