Great way to spend an afternoon for all the family
Oct 2019
My husband and I and our two boys spent a very enjoyable afternoon making and painting models and viewing the Waterloo exhibit.
We all loved it and even bought some kits to bring some of the fun home.
Couldn't recommend it highly enough for people of all ages.

Fun souvenir
Oct 2019 • Couples
We saw the signs and stopped in on a whim. After driving for a while on tiny backgrounds, we pulled in and my husband says, “I know this place!” If you’re into miniature soldiers, war gaming, etc. then you’ll love this place. We were able to make our own leprechaun miniatures, including assembling the molds, pouring the metal, and painting them. Mine is hideous, but I’m a terrible painter. So we left with two Irish souvenirs that we made with our own hands to commemorate an experience on our trip, Better than some imported googah any day. If you can’t stand to look at your monstrosity. You can also purchase a nice version created by the painters there.

Hi Kerry, thank you for your 5-star review. We're over the moon you both enjoyed making and painting your very own leprechauns. The leprechaun workshop is quite new and it's great to get positive feedback. Enjoy your Irish souvenirs and we hope to see you on your next visit to Ireland.

Happy campers from Down Under
Sep 2019 • Family
Visited with family who were on holiday from Australia. We got to meet many of the team, with our host Mary being ever so charming and delightful, showing us around the factory, and giving us its history since 1976. We were treated to casting demonstrations, and the factory shop also has a wonderful array of goods including casting kits for beginners and experts, pewter mugs and hip flasks, and beautifully finished chess sets.

Our highlight was the Battle of Waterloo exhibition which was on show during our visit (due to leave in November so catch it while you can). Just shows the creativity that a skilled modeler can create from what comes out of this facility.

Will certainly be bringing more guests here, highly recommended.

Hi Liam, thank you for your 5star rating. It's great to get positive reviews, it means we are doing something right. Customer service is so important to us. We're delighted you enjoy the "Battle of Waterloo" exhibit. It's amazing to see peoples jaw drop when they see the size of the diorama. Hope to see you on your next visit to Ireland.

Enjoyed this very much!
Aug 2019 • Family
We visited with my children aged 10 and 7. Both made and painted a small item for €12 each. There is the option to paint a pre cast item for less. My daughter chose a cat and my son opted for a skull. The lady who showed us what to do was very patient and explained in detail what they needed to do. We also paid €3 each (children free) to see the temporary Battle of Waterloo exhibition which was incredible! We all really enjoyed ourselves and the children were delighted with what they made. If I lived nearby I would definitely avail of the option to do a children’s party. The shop is also well stocked and we spent a small fortune on bits and pieces. All in all a really nice morning!

Worth a quick visit only if passing through
Aug 2019 • Family
An interesting & different little place, worth a quick visit if passing. I really think the staff should advise on the price of the models the children choose as I got quite a land when I was charged €34 for the werebat & baby bunny, seriously !!! For this reason I certainly would not return, found this to be a bit of a rip off to be honest..

Hi Pipcork.. thank you for your comments It's with reviews like this we learn.. but just to let you know all our prices are on display for our customers to see. The Werbat is one of the largest figures on our workshop list plus you get an extra hour for painting due to its size. our figures are not made of cheap plastic but of real metal and metal is expensive. The Werebat workshop is very new but its one of our best-selling workshop this year with the older children. We hope this does not stop you for visiting us again. You can also book online and pick the models your children want to make and paint..When booking online you also get 10% disocunt.

Great indoor activity for rainy day
Aug 2019 • Family
Visited without making a booking and got to do a make and paint session. The kids got to choose their mould from a set of about 20 and after making their cast from molten metal, they painted them to their own designs. Great day out and open 7 days a week which is great.

Such fun. We are a party of 4 adults and we had a wonderful time. The staff took time to explain the best configuration for us to be able to make everything at home. They are the nicest, most professional people. It is must stop. Great for kids, families, teens and in our case kids of all ages! I hope to have beautiful fairies soon. Thanks ladies for a great experience!

What an unusual place.
Jul 2019 • Couples
Usual in the fact that it costs nothing to enter and have a look around. At the minimum it is 3euro to go and see the Battle of Waterloo set up. This is a table 23' long by 13' with 5000 figures all hand cast that apparently took the maker 8 years to complete, there is also a 15 min video to watch which explains the battle.
The shop sells kits to make your own small figures plus for a fee you can make one of about 10 (I think) figures in the demonstration area.
The Toy Factory is west of Macroom and although out of the way there are signs from the main road to the village where the factory is.
Well worth a visit, especially if you want to regain the childhood memories of toy soldiers, (and figures), plus if you have children show them the joy of not only the figures but also let them make one!
I have marked "Not Sure" below for wheel chair users as I didn't take notice of the entrance, but think there wouldn't be a problem.
