Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The car-park is large so useful for families with friends. The trails are walks are well laid out and the deers, birds are great to watch. For kids various options with the play park and zip line. Big negative is the trails surfaces not being suitable for persons with wheelchairs, it was really hard to push mum on trails with many stones and rocks and really limits access.

Recently zipit zipline park has added a course to farran wood. We used to go there before this and while it was nice enough from a nature point of view, it was underused. We visited a couple of times this summer and the zipit course has added so much energy to the wood. It's clearly very popular even though it's slightly off the beaten track( still very accessible from cork or the main cork-killarney road). As well as the zipit course there are a selection of nature trails through the native forest and along the lake. The forest clearly took a hammering from storm darwin with a lot of clear space and downed trees. Still the downed trees probably add great refuge for wildlife and there is plenty of regeneration evident. The lake is very picturesque. A word of warning in that this is more of a reservoir than a natural lake and the water gets very deep very quickly. There are a number of places that are beautiful looking but highly dangerous particularly for young children as well as a lack of lifebuoys. There is a playground that is well maintained and a more natural theme than the usual these days. There are picnic tables around this area and carpark as well as toilets. Be aware that you must pay 5 euro in coins to access the carpark. It's well worth it. Overall this amenity has developed from being a bit of a backwater to a very attractive family park particularly if you are going to go zip lining.

Nice park with a little playground, good walks and running trails. Kids love going there to look at the deer, try to catch the ducks and crawl in between the trees. Take a little old bread to feed the deer, always a great attraction.

I visited Farran woods today with my wife and 6 year old. When I arrived I found that 5 euros is now being charged to access the car park at Farran woods. The gate is coin-operated and I could not access because I had a five euro note rather than the necessary coins. A member of staff present waved me away when I approached him for assistance in getting coins. Instead, he used abusive language while telling me to move my illegally parked car. Not a great welcome from Farran woods. He wasn't particularly interested in helping.

I moved my car to the entrance of the park (where it was also illegally parked on double-yellow lines) and accessed the woods on foot. Inside we discovered that there has been significant felling of trees in the woods. In fact, large parts of 'the woods' are no more. Much of the woods now resemble something from a Hollywood post-apocalypse movie. Overall, not a great welcome and the woods were not particularly enjoyable. Avoid.

We visited Farran in late November with 2 young children (3&4) and it was a wonderful day out. The deer and playground were a big hit and the short looped walk was perfect with the children in cold weather.

There were options for a longer walk with more inclines and more natural woodland.

Do pack something to eat and visit on a Sunday after 12 noon when the barrier is lifted and it's free of charge to park. Otherwise, bring 5 euro in coins for parking.

When we visited it was raining (showers) and it was still a fun day out as we had packed rain gear and heat packs for the kids.

A must do activity. It involves team work and helping one another. A good way to get a natural adrenaline rush. Plus it means at least 4 hours away from all the gadgets it's a win win. The staff are very helpful and the surroundings are tranquil and picturesque

This is a really lovely place for a walk.It is really well maintained and clean. There is a €5 charge for the car park but entrance is free other than that. The deer are just beautiful. And the ducks of course. We didnt see any red squirrels unfortunately. We went on a day that was cold and damp but enjoyed it immensely, and would definitely go again.Maybe with a picnic next time.

Farran woods is a great place for a family outing in good weather. There is great walking routes through the park but the highlight has to be feeding carrots to the deer. It can take a while for them to come over but when they do the will take the carrots from your hand through the fence. It is really amazing to see them up close and my little boy is fascinated.
