    A 5* experience in a gorgeous setting
From the moment we booked, this was a very special experience. The booking process was efficient and easy to do. We received a form for each of us to complete within minutes, and were reassured that Donegal Equestrian Centre sought all relevant information from us to ensure that we were matched with suitable ponies and the correct level of trek. The advice on what we should wear was useful too as we were inexperienced. When we arrived for our trek we were met immediately by our guide Roisin who was very friendly, helpful and professional. She sorted us out with boots and riding hats quickly and we were brought out to meet Peggy Sue and Treacle, our ponies for the trek. Roisin's calm manner and great attention to safety immediately put us at ease and we were quickly shown how to mount the ponies safely, ensuring both our comfort and that of the ponies. After a short 'lesson' in the indoor arena, covering the basics of walking, stopping and steering we went for an amazing trek through the dunes above Tullan Strand. Roisin was very reassuring and patient with us, which helped ease initial nerves and she made sure to go at a pace at which we were comfortable. The views and weather were perfect, and the length of the trek was exactly what we wanted. We will definitely return. All the staff were very friendly and polite. Donegal Equestrian Centre is to be highly recommended. Thanks for a brilliant experience 😄

    Best experience in Ireland
It was the most amazing ride ever. My horse, Benson, was magnificent!! Susan, my guide was just terrific. I've been on several vacation horserides. Nothing comes close to riding thru these beautiful grassy dunes on the Donegal coast. The weather was amazing, but it wouldn't have mattered if it were raining either. This is my 3rd trip to Ireland, and this is the best time I've had.

    Thrilling Equestrian Beach/Dunes Excursion
My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our excursion. Sarah, our instructor was knowledgable and kind when 'showing us the ropes' before taking us out. Clive and Benson were our horses. They had been trained well and were also very kind. My sister had never ridden a horse. She was quite nervous but those nerves quickly turned into exhileration. We trekked through the dunes and onto the beach. In hind sight I have to say we enjoyed walking through the dunes more than the beach because we were situated higher up and views were spectacular of the beach and mountains. The facility is well equipped and it is obvious the horses are loved and well taken care of! Thank you Sarah for guiding us on a wonderful ride!

Hands on horse experience followed by a fantastic trek!
This was a present for my 40th Birthday and I have to say it was one I won't ever forget! The beginner beach ride experience was incredible! A real must for horse lovers! Being from Belfast stables are few and far between so getting the chance to have a real hands on experience with some beautiful horses was fantastic! We got to groom and tack up our horses (such a novelty experience and one we didn't find so easy at first). Then a brief lesson to get the basics and off we went on the most fabulous trek! The dunnes were incredible and the views truly breathtaking! Our guide was very good and patient with us (we were quite slow at times lol), offered to take pictures for us and now we have memories that will last a lifetime! If you love horses but don't get to spend much time with them this is the perfect experience for you!

Even with the early drizzle - could it have been better? NO!! Perfect Outing!
While visiting Ireland I scheduled two rides in different parts of the country. My experience at DEC was hands down my favorite!! My guide, Roisin, was absolutely wonderful! She allowed me to have an experience that I will not soon forget! The scenery high up in the grassy hills is absolutely unbelieveable, getting to trot on the beach and take a little stroll through the water was just what this weary traveler needed!! My soul was so filled and I can’t thank her enough for an amazing experience for the wonderful photos she somehow managed to get of me while riding! Thanks, Roisin (hope I’m spelling your name right 😜)

If this isn’t on your bucket list, it should be! The beaches of Donegal are amazing, seeing them from the back of a horse, high up on a sand dune and making your way down to the seashore, is straight out of a movie. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. Memories that will last a lifetime!

My first time horse riding. Went with a friend who had some experience.

Staff were super accommodating for us and very friendly. Our instructor was Susan who was lovely. She showed me how to steer and command the horse.

We practiced in a small arena first to get used to the feeling, then we went on a nice walk through the sand dunes. We had a lovely chat while on the horses.

Absolutely would recommend for anyone.

Had a lovely and long ride with Treacle in the grass, beach and dunes. Treacle liked to pause for grass but she was a great ride for me. The views of the coast and the ocean were amazing. The ride in the trails was equally as breathtaking up on the hills.
