On the banks of the river, this imposing cathedral impresses. The building is tall and solitary. The inside, while not as decorated as those in Rome or Paris, is worth a visit. Spiritual.

The high steeple rises over Ballina on the side of the Moy river, easy to find and park or walk to from the town. It is quite impressive as cathedrals go and in particular the stained glass windows. Lovely ambiance.

The sudden sight of the cathedral across the river takes the breath away as much as it did when I was last here over 15 years ago. So much else in the town has changed; the cathedral remains an evocative and stable sight. Its sheer...More
