Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I couldn't disagree more with the previous review, I visited this week and found the centre to be fantastic with lots to see and do!

On arrival we were given a tour which told the story of Father Peyton. Nicki (who gave the tour) was fantastic. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to view the 30-minute video of his story but will definitely return to do so.

There is a beautiful café and you can walk the gardens which are very picturesque, I believe there is ongoing works there encorporarating the stations of the cross, and before the café there is an area where you can purchase souvenirs, local books and religious items.

On a Tuesday there is a community group that visits, so if you are seeking a quiet visit its best to go on a day outside of this. During the summer months there are events for Irish traditional music, and the centre is a great base for walking the Attymass Loop Walk.

The centre forms part of Mayo's unique religious heritage, alongside Ballintubber Abbey, Knock Shrine and Croagh Patrick. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area!

Clearly a lot of money was spent developing this but it has been ravaged by the Covid pandemic. There isn't much to see there and even less to do. It functions usually as a retreat centre but Covid took this away.

Visited Fr Peyton Centre with my mum just after it reopened after lockdown. A Visitors Centre about the extraordinary life of local man Fr Patrick Peyton. It is an oasis of calmness! Watched a lovely presentation on his life & had a tour of the various pieces of memorabilia on his life! Had delicious tea & scones in Tea Room. The place is well laid out for socially distancing and we felt safe! A really lovey place to visit in the very beautiful countryside of Attymass Co Mayo.

We went on a whim as we were passing through the area. Not impressed. The place was very crowded with tour bosses and local church groups.Has a small cafe(okay food/soup/sandwiches) and a gift shop selling Rosary and RCC related stuff.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I see you visited us in February this is probably our quietest time of the year but once a week we have a daycare for local senior citizens, they come to us for mass, lunch and an activity, this is for many of them the only social interaction they have in the week. They are brought to us on the Mayo Local Link Buses which provide a free service to the vulnerable in the area this is a very important aspect of our caring ministry. If you would like to visit again we also offer multimedia presentation and guided tour on the life of Father Peyton and our souvenir shop has recently been revamped. Many thanks for the feedback.

I have had the opportunity to stop by the Fr. Peyton Memorial Center twice while visiting Ireland and will be back again. It is in a quiet peaceful location in rural Mayo and the staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. I really didn’t know the story about Fr. Peyton until my first visit and have since done more research online - an amazing and inspiring story. If you can’t visit the Fr. Peyton Center in the near future you can look them up on Facebook and follow them online until you can visit in person.

I've just returned from a weekend retreat at the Fr. Peyton Centre. The surroundings, the accommodation and the exceptional staff made this the most peacful weekend I've had in years.
If you're looking for an oasis of quiet and tranquility amidst a noisy life I highly recommend a stay in this idyllic place.
The accommodation is of an extremely high standard, better than a lot of hotels I've stayed in. Beautiful rooms, very comfortable bed, communal area and a small kitchen for making tea & coffee. The staff are exceptionally kind, helpful and hospitable. They made me feel as though I was the only guest(while having a full house!).
I am so thankful for my visit here and to the staff for making it so speacial.
Blissful, tranquil and a very top class oasis of peace!

Saw a brochure in our hotel and headed out the very narrow and very windy road.
It is very well sign posted.
The Centre is an oasis of quiet tranquillity. The staff are superb and so helpful in every way. There is no charge but one may make a donation.
Fr. Peyton was a friend of Popes, Presidents and movie stars.
He was a truly amazing man and the Centre does him justice.
There's a lovely restaurant...shop....chapel...theatre...prayer garden...old fashioned kitchen.
A wonderful experience...well worth the visit.

We have long been interested in Father Francis Peyton, the Rosary Priest. So we took advantage of our time in the West of Ireland to visit the town where he was born and the center established there in his memory. We had a lovely morning there, a very nice visit. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They show a very interesting video about Father Peyton, which lasts about a half hour. There are some interesting artifacts from Father Peyton’s life, and a lovely chapel. The garden seems a lovely spot for contemplation. We had tea and scones in the cafeteria, which really hit the spot. Have the treacle scones if you can—delicious! The location is way off the beaten path, but if you are interested in the faithful life of this good man, you will enjoy your visit to the center.
