Interesting history with a sheep demonstration

Gabriel was an amazing host and fascinating to watch. The famine cottages, even for their sad history, are moving to visit.

We were on a tour and the personality of the operator was demeaning to women and overall not forthcoming with information. We had little detail provided about the cottages. You do need a tour guide to make an efficient trip through the Dingle Peninsula.

Although the attraction is not all that extensive or pristine I highly recommend visiting the cottage and farm. The cottages are vintage and u are able to walk through them. Make sure you take the brochure so u can read about the cottage and how they were used etc. I thought is was eye opening especially knowing my grandmother lived... More

Thought provoking look into peasant Irish life. We stopped because it was the beginning of our Dingle loop, if it had been later we probably would have passed.

The house was not of a very poor person but there was a hovel where such a person lived. It was worth the money and short walk up the hill.

Cannot imagine what it was like to live like this! My grandparents lived in Ireland during this time so seeing what their lives must have been like was overwhelming. Great history here.

We were just killing time, waiting for the Dunbeg Fort visitor center to open, so we decided to visit the Irish Famine Cottages. It's a bit campy with some creepy mannequins that managed to elicit what it meant to go hungry. It was surprisingly interesting although very dark. Some better lighting would have been nice to read a lot of... More

Reconstruction of what the Irish people suffered during the famine times. Local guide had a good knowledge and way of telling the tale.

Very nice to see this piece of history has been preserved. Some of the poor Irish really experienced some truly hard times. Well worth the time to stop and check this out.
