My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our Ring of Kerry tour with Paul. Paul has a great passion for the history of western Ireland. Our eight hours with Paul were like spending a day with a long lost relative exploring the Ring. Highly recommend letting Paul drive so you don’t miss any of the spectacular vistas (and you can also enjoy a pint at lunch!)

My wife and I hired Paul Browne twice - once to drive us on a 4-hour tour around McGillicutty's Reeks (the mountains surrounding Kenmare on the Ring of Kerry) and again to drive us on an 8-hour tour around the Ring of Beara.
Both times Paul was exactly what you'd hope for in a tour guide - communicative, thoughtful, flexible, witty, full of local knowledge. When the weather looked dicey one of the days, he recommended that we postpone to the next day.
As a former Garda (police officer) locally, he literally seemed to know everyone, every story, all the history, every out of the way spot, all of it. He stopped for plenty of lookouts and as many photos as you'd like. He was great company - smart, knowledgeable, funny. "Good Craic", as the Irish say!
On top of everything else, Paul Browne is an excellent driver -- careful, smart, skilled. The driving in Ireland can be stressful, but Paul removed all that stress. You will feel very secure.
So don't hesitate to book a tour with Paul -- you'll leave Kenmare a little smarter with your eyes filled with beauty. On top of it all, you'll feel like you have a new friend in SouthWest Ireland!

My wife and I traveled to Ireland in early October for a wedding. We hired Paul to explore the Ring of Kerry. It was the highlight of our trip. Paul is extremely knowledgeable about the local area and Ireland in general. He was very responsive when scheduling the tour. I'll recommend booking a tour with Paul to any of our family or friends traveling to Ireland. I want to thank you Paul for such a great experience and memorable day. I tell everyone this tour was the best part of our trip.

I learned about Browns Taxi and Tours from a stranger in a Wal Greens in WI, who overheard me saying I was going to Ireland. His sister had just returned from Ireland and he gave me her contact info. She informed me that she and her 3 friends had retained Browns Taxi and Tours for the Ring of Kerry Tour and it was their favorite part of their Ireland vacation. I immediately e-mailed the company. Paul Brown responded and gave me lots of info and answered all my questions. My daughter and I booked a hotel in Kenmare where Browns Taxi and Tours is based, and spent two days touring around with Paul. When I told Paul that I really love coastal vistas, he tailored his Ring of Kerry Tour to include more of the Wilde Atlantic Way. His knowledge of history made the trip an incredible learning experience and gave my daughter and me a deeper appreciation for the Irish landscapes that our tour guide clearly loves. We learned facts we would never have known but for our tour with Browns Taxi and Tours. I work for a tribe in Wisconsin, so he told us about the Kindred Spirits sculpture in Midleton, County Cork, dedicated to the Choctaw Indians who provided hunger relief during the potato famine. It was the height of the tour for me and incredibly beautiful! He showed us the coastline in Kinsale where just a few miles out to sea around 2015, the Lusitania was sank and hundreds of bodies came ashore. He showed us Skellig Michael Islands where some of the Star Wars movies were filmed. I was so impressed with his information on Daniel O'Connell that I bought a book on him as soon as I returned home. Paul is an excellent driver and his taxi is large and comfortable. He made my daughter and me feel comfortable, safe and well taken care of during our December 2023 tour of Ireland. If you want a safe, stress free tour where you see wonderful sites and learn lots of little facts you were not expecting, Browns Taxi and Tours is a must! Paul also loves to take pictures for your and he showed me how to do a panoramic photo! He knows where the good food is too!

We were a group of 6 (three couples) visiting from the United States.
Paul drove us around two days- one day we toured the Ring of Kerry and the other day the Dingle Peninsula. It was wonderful to be able to relax and to have someone else do the driving and it allowed the 6 of us to be in the same vehicle (a very comfortable and spotlessly clean 8 passenger van). Paul knew historical information and fun facts about the area- it made our trip so much more interesting. We were able to get off the beaten path and see things in places that a large bus would be able to go and he also knew great places to stop for lunch both days. Seeing county Kerry was definitely a highlight of our trip to Ireland and Paul helped bring it all to life with his stories.

My wife and I had a private day tour of Ring of Kerry with Paul - it was simply a fantastic trip. Paul is very knowledgeable about not only the County Kerry, but all of Ireland and it's amazing history. Wonderful conversation, lots of interesting facts and lunch at a great pub. Going on the private tour allowed us to get of the beaten track, a trip to Valentia Island for example. Highly recommend if your looking to see the Ring of Kerry with a personal touch.

Paul picked up 6 of us from Bunratty to save us from a logistical nightmare getting to Killarney. We went on a Dingle Peninsula tour on a beautiful day in September. He had wonderful stories and stopped at amazing places. We also had some delicious food at Ashes Restaurant in Dingle. The next day we planned a tour with Paul to the Ring of Kerry but storm Agnes changed our plans just a little. We weren't able to see the cliffs but we saw most everything else on the tour. When in Ireland, you always have to be prepared to pivot and don't let the weather get you down. Paul is very knowledgeable on a large variety of subjects and answered our many questions. We had more delicious food at Fisherman's Bar and Skellig Restaurant in Portage. Overall I give Paul ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and highly recommend his tours.

Paul Brown made our trip to Ireland the best possible experience. He is very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the area, was able to adapt to our needs, took us on the "back roads" and to tasty eating places. We highly recommend him!

We were on a Princess Cruise of the British Isles, Ireland and a stop in France, September 2023. What I really desired for our first time in Ireland, was a private tour without the crowds and the tour buses and the long lines which are often the hallmark of a cruise stop. Paul came highly recommended and we could not have been more pleased. We all agreed that our time with Paul was the highlight of our 12 day cruise! He was able to pick us up at the cruise ship, and we headed out immediately in his very comfortable van. There were four of us in our group and we were all seated very comfortably, the large van windows affording very good views. Paul had a suggested itinerary for the Irish countryside and the Wild Atlantic Way and was also up for a spontaneous side trip! We headed first to the town of Skibbereen where we spent time at the Skibbereen Heritage Centre with the goal of learning more about the potato famine. We then spent the next seven hours exploring the towns of Kinsale, Clonakilty, Glandore, Union Hall, all along the coast . There was a wonderful stop at the stone cirle at Dromberg, a solar alignment , four to five thousand years old! Paul is very knowledgable about the local history along with being a very good story teller. As we traveled to and through different towns, he brought to life the stories of Michael Collins, the sinking of the Lusitania, the struggles of the Irish people during the famine, along with many side notes about the local areas.
A very relaxed, unhurried lunch at a local pub, with great food and the requisite glass of Guinness, ticked a very important box for me!
Our spontaneous side trip resulted from my husband having a transcript of a letter written in 1846 from his great, great, great uncle, describing the hardships of the famine, with the post script from the town of Bandon, but him actually living in Kilcolemon. Since we were in the area, Paul and GPS, found the little cross roads of Kilcolemon! My husband was quite pleased and we all enjoyed the extra adventure! Long review, but I wanted to emphasize how much we all enjoyed the trip and would highly recommend Paul Brown Tours.
