If you are in Kenmare you need to make this trip around the peninsula. The little towns and the scenery is well worth the drive.

Get out and walk! It is the best way to visit Ireland. The Beara Way Walk is beautiful. Put on you hiking boots, be prepared for the weather and walk!

Lots of beautiful sights here. I love this area. Watch out for the sheep on the road. They don't seem to watch out for cars. And if you hit one you have to buy it!

Although it can be a driving challenge with tight twists and turns and sheep "owning" parts of the road, this is a great alternative to the long ring of Kerry. This has all the things you would expect from the pics of Ireland; great bright...More

We stayed in Kenmare and liked it. But you need to either have a car or change hotels if you're walking far. Don't know about public transport. We took a bus from Killarney to Kenmare.
