Our night kayaking tour of Kenmare River/Bay was the highlight of our trip to Ireland. Our guide Eamon was delightful: equal parts knowledgeable, funny, and thoughtful.

What a once in a lifetime experience! The guides were funny and full of information about the sea and stories of Ireland. Then at night as your paddling the magic blue lights. It was a beautiful night. Thanks guys for a great trip!

What a magical and amazing evening! Well organized and extremely well run.
We met our guide Romke at Templenoe pier. After being kitted out with all our safety equipment (waterproof gear, life jackets etc), Romke went through, in detail, a safety guide and a how to paddle/steer the tandem kayak for beginners (our first time). Then onto the water.
Romke took us around Greenane Islands, home to birds (Curlews, Cormorants, Herons), seals and Goats!! We learnt the importance of plankton and seaweed for oxygen production and the many varieties of seaweed we have in Irish waters. We heard some great stories and were lucky to experience the amazing bioluminescence as it sparkled around our kayaks and our paddles.
Having visited this region many times over the years this was the most spectacular view of the area I have ever seen.
This is truly magical!!! Thank you Emerald Outdoors and Romke!
If you can, you must try this. A perfect reset to the hectic lives we now live...

This was our third trip in five years. It was the best yet. From a glorious sunset to sparkling bio luminescence in the night time waters of Kenmare Bay, the evening was a delightful experience. Our guide, Jamie, took time to ensure that the whole group felt at ease in their kayaks, we were given a comprehensive safety briefing and all kitted out in clean and well fitting waterproof clothing. He set the scene for our trip highlighting the sights and sounds of nature as night fell over the bay - telling stories, pointing out stars and constellations, even introducing us to the delights of eating seaweed!
I heartily recommend anybody visiting the Ring of Kerry or Ring of Beara to take the opportunity to book a trip with Emerald Outdoors, you will never forget it.

Great trip with our excellent guide Rowan. We did the evening tour. Great view of the sunset over the beautiful scenery. Once darkness hit there was amazing views of the night sky with clear views of constellations and the Milky Way. In the water the amazing natural phenomenon of bioluminescent plankton which glittered whenever the water was disturbed. Rowan amazed us with his knowledge of the sea life and local history and thrilled us with brilliant retellings of Irish myths and legends. Safety and customer experience are clearly at the heart of Emerald outdoors ethos. A great value experience well worth doing if you are in the Kenmare area. We will definitely be back!

Our handsome guide Rowan led us on quite the trip.
To start, the scenery was magnificent; flat calm waters, picturesque islands, and rolling hills in the distance, all laid seemingly in touching distance of the sheltered launch point.
Kit provided was clean, dry and in good condition, which is rarer among kayak tour companies than one would think.
As the sun threatened to disappear above the hills of Kenmare ‘river’, Rowan led us through the narrow channels between islands, teaching us about surrounding seaweed and telling us some local stories.
The true majesty of this trip is revealed as the sun bids farewell. The night was alight with thousands of specks of light, both dim and bright, both stationary and streaking across the sky. Rowan pointed out various constellations, including the big dipper and Orion.
As above, so below. The slightest disturbance of the water sets in motion a natural phenomenon. Microscopic plankton attempt to mirror the speckled sky by triggering bioluminescence. Words cannot describe this truly unique spectacle, it must be seen to be fully appreciated.
I strongly recommend to all ages visiting the Kenmare area.

We had an amazing kayaking trip with Eamon looking at all of the goats, seals and birds around the islands of Kenmare Bay. Jamie and the team kept us updated with the weather and planning the trip when it was best. Just the right amount of chatting, paddling and stories! Also send us loads of great pics within a few hours. Thank you all :)

Eamon was an absolutely lovely and informative guide for our Kayak Tour. Safety and Dad jokes guaranteed. Seals and goats galore, with just a dash of rain but we were well equipped with a waterproof jacket and spray deck to ensure we stayed dry. Can’t think of a better way to explore the local area!

A fantastic night kayaking trip. Milky Way and bioluminescence, whole group really enjoyed it. Our guides are very friendly with the children.

All the information you are looking for can be found on our website (see the link above) The paddleboard tours start at 10am but the night kayaking changes based on what time the sun sets.
You can click the orange ‘book now’ button on the website to see what time the tours start on the day that you would like to come. You can also book, pay and sign the waiver for the tour of your choice by clicking that button.
