Brunel bridge from 1859
Sep 2021 • Couples
Great piece of engineering from 1859 by Brunel. Still in excellent condition after 150 years with great views along the river.

Another Brunel Masterclass
Sep 2021
Another masterpiece of engineering designed by Isambard Brunel. It’s a beautiful looking lenticular bridge and to me it looks so narrow, it’s a wonder it can support the weight of a train. It looks good from the ground level, but seeing it from the Tamar Bridge is even better.

Take the Train over to Plymouth
Jul 2021
A wonderful view of the river Tamar and we took great photos. Saves parking in Plymouth. Very reasonable and a great day out when staying in or near to Saltash

Magnificent
Jun 2021
Brunel's masterpiece spans the Tamar high above the Saltash waterfront.
What a structure this is with the more modern Tamar road bridge alongside. We spent about 20 minutes here and in that time a train passed overhead heading towards Plymouth. We noticed how slow it was coming round the curve towards the bridge, hardly surprising as it looks a bit flimsy to me!!
No problem parking as folk only seem to hang around for a short time just to take photos.
Has to be seen when in this neck of the woods.

Awesome!
Jun 2021
Brunel's bridge is awesome. But, the town it's in is terrible. Saltash has nothing to offer to a tourist. We took a train from Plymouth to Saltash, saw the bridge and took the next train back. Waterside is a joke.

It's a bridge!
Jun 2021 • Couples
Like a bridge over troubled water, this piece of architecture by Isambard Kingdom Brunel takes you over the border from Devon to Cornwall and back if you're on the train.

Pretty much does what it says on the tin, but with unique style!

Brunel's brilliance...
Oct 2020
Took the opportunity to explore the Waterside site when staying near Saltash.
Free parking nearby, easy and safe to walk around, taking in the views of the bridges here from beneath at the quayside.
Another fantastic example of Brunel's brilliance and a chance to drive next to it when taking the Tamar roadway into Plymouth.

An impressive bridge
Aug 2020 • Family
Visted here whilst at Saltash Waterside. The bridge is impressive especially for how old it is & still functioning. Great if you are into all things Brunel.

Royal Albert Bridge Visitor Centre
Jan 2020
A newly opened visitor centre on the Devon side of the River Tamar is definitely worth a visit. Staffed by enthusiastic volunteers provides a wealth of information and history of both the railway and road bridges.

Bridge

This is a bridge. It is very bridge like, behaves like a bridge and completes all the functions of a bridge. If you want to see a functioning bridge this is the place to be.
