Excellent visit - this little place was at the top of a fairly steep hill so maybe consider taking the car up if this might be an issue for you

We were greeted by two very helpful ladies who made sure we adhered to their covid controls, and also were very knowledgeable about the site.

A lovely place to spend an hour away from the hustle and bustle of the main village centre

A gem of a museum
Jun 2021
I’m so pleased I got the chance to visit this wonderful museum. The volunteers were friendly, helpful and welcoming, even when my phone turned out to be less than smart. There are so many fascinating objects displayed in an engaging and accessible way, and there is something for everyone. Toys, costumes, wartime ephemera, arts and crafts, domestic and working items, and much more. The building itself has a long and interesting history which is explained throughout.
Do visit if you get the chance.

The building is fascinating. The collection really reflects the local stories and community. The staff are marvelous and extremely knowledgeable. The one way system through the building made it very easy to avoid crowding in with people and there's loads of hand sanitiser dotted round.

Went with my mum who was visiting me. (I live locally). Such a great place to visit. The admission is very reasonable and allows future visits for a year. Lots of rooms to explore and items to look at. We loved it.

After a Bakewell pudding we went to this museum so glad it was saved from the bulldozer. The old clock in the out building was my favourite part.

Thank you so much. The clock had been stored in the loft for years and came out when the gallery was built. It belonged to the Workhouse.
