We visited this historic house and gardens as apart of a coach tour of NT houses. We were most impressed by the house and especially the gardens- both the formal and the landscaped gardens. The house stewards were very friendly and knowledgeable.

yes there is a fee to visit the house and Gardens. I can't remember how much it cost, the tearoom is lovely everything is home baked.

Ian's reply is the best option. Public transport to / from Mount Stewart is rather infrequent. Hiring a car for a limited period is unlikely to be a cost-effective option. Taxi may be costly, but it enables you to decide... More
