Great place to visit, lots to see and you can virtual walk around the whole place. A great museum and visual section. Beautiful grounds and the town is great to walk round after. Lots of steep and narrow stairs but that’s expected in a castle....More

If you are ever in the town centre of Carmarthen, I would recommend taking a look around the ruins. As you go through the gate in the photo, you will find the tourist information building with the old jail behind. There is a tower filled...More

Guided tours are usually run in the summer and are really informational! Even through the winter, there are notice boards supplying historical information! Worth a visit!

Only a small part of the castle is left but it is still worth a visit, specially as it brings to life some of of the people who lived in Carmarthen in the past.

Castle!? It's just a wall! Absolutely nothing there! Seriously don't recommend visiting, it's a waste of time.

Not much remains of Carmarthen Castle, Cromwell and his boys saw to that, but there are interesting bits in it, not least as it was used as the County Jail for a number of years. Make sure you climb the stairs to the top of...More

Very little left of Carmarthen Castle now, and most of that is occupied by the council. Entry is free. It's cool the way it looks as it dominates the town, and there are some lovely views over the Twyi when you go inside, where you...More

Visited this on a recent visit to Carmarthen - apart from the gatehouse there are a couple of old gaol cells to visit and plenty of local information on offer
