We do this jaunt quite a lot. Park in the NT car park, go through the Mill and head out of the grazing pastures towards St Ives. It's well sign-posted. There's a good selection of terrains and the path is well maintained; I like the river section. After which you cross the meadow-land to St Ives. There are plenty of... More

Beautiful place to visit for 2 or 3 hours. Ideal for picnics, kite flying or just letting the children let off some steam. No playground, but plenty of open space. The Mill itself is not the most exciting NT property, possibly not worth paying for unless you have a particular interest. The walks surrounding the Mill are well worth investigating,... More

Was driving by and was caught up with the charm of this village. Tea shops, pubs and charming old homes. Walking paths all through the village and a stop at the National Trust is a must.

Interesting but not much to see unless the kids are doing projects on Flour Milling or middle age culture

One of our favourite local places. Interesting old water driven flour mill on the River Great Ouse, good displays and milling demonstrations, a National Trust tea shop, boat and punt hire in the summer, and on a hot day (at your own risk) you can swim in the mill pool and have a picnic. A great place to relax. An... More

The delightful setting of this mill is only the start of what's on offer at Houghton. This is a working mill but you need to check opening times if you want to experience the inner workings. There is a small pay car park adjacent (free to NT members) but the field next to it is frequently used at busy times... More
