Great walk

The first half is steep but also the best views. Was dry when we wine but gather it can be muddy. Worth the hike.

You can enter this trail from the Kapalua Golf Academy side and trek parallel to Route 30 on a paved road or , IMO a better option is DT Fleming Park where you hike above the road down to the beach cross UNDER the Route 30 overpass and along the ridge line above the Kapalua Resorts maintenance area. Once past... More

Did the trail from the village centre/golf course (ALL up hill). It starts off paved for about 2 miles then you walk off into a mostly canopied trail; moderate difficulty. Top 3 miles lots of muddy ground. Take your water at least 2 litres (camelback). The fast pace downhill was great. 6 hrs with trekking poles.

First, we hiked this trail in December. A lot of rain had recently passed through, the trail had standing water making it slippery and muddy . The weather was cool and refreshing. I imagine if the weather was warm & humid, the hike might be more challenging. Parts of the trail had not been cleared of vegetation. Once you get... More

We were looking for some trails to do close by in the rainforest and found the Mahana Ridge Trail. It started at the Kapalula Resorts a little north of Kaanapali. The entire trail I believe is 5.75 miles however we only went about ½ way and turned around. We got some great shots while hiking but not too many lookouts.... More

Enjoyable hike - the most interesting part is the arboretum at the top of the ridge. Some unusual flora up there. Bring mosquito repellent and high socks as there are some quiet spots for the buggers to get you. Long walk down if you willing to go all the way to Kapalua. If not, the bus will pick you up... This was my third time on this trail. It is muddy as you get farther up the hill and can be a bit slick. The flora is absolutely amazing and such a contrast from my desert and mountain bikes back home. Apply bug spray! My adult daughter did not enjoy it as much as I did as many mosquitos found... More

Super well marked trail made it a pleasure to pass away a Sunday... We started at Flemming Beach and walked all the way to the end (7 miles; 5.75 + 1.25) and back in about 6 hours. Areas were muddy and there was quite a bit of overgrown vegetation, but it was pleasant and not technically difficult. Beautiful views of... More

19km round trip from Fleming beach. See my Fleming beach review for more details! Shade most of the way. Lots of various vegetation!

Don't let any body fool you into thinking there are no great hikes in Hawaii. this trail can be as long or as short as you want as there are several looping trails that will take you back to where the trail begins near the Ritz-Carlton. We hiked for about two hours and ended up back where we started by... More
