Surprisingly interesting museum with a lot of 'material'. Cool exhibits for a variety of ages and interactive crafts for kids. If you want to read everything and watch/listen to videos give yourself some time, otherwise it's a quick walk through.

Have been there about four times, mostly for a special exhibit or event. Not very interesting to a casual viewer. The building is not well kept, and neighbours don't seem to like visitors.

I love this old relic of a museum. I am a member and feel that it has superb special and regular exhibits that are well worth the trip to Almonte. I have purchased lots of great gifts in the shop and textiles for my home....More

Really interesting visit to this mill being from Manchester England was surprised to find out that it had once been called Little Manchester and there was a book in a glass cabinet that was actually from Manchester.

Located in an old woollen mill, this museum does a great job of showing how wool goes from sheep to fabric. If memory service, at the height of the wool industry in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this region was one of the...More

A walk through the process of making wool fabrics, from sheep to shop. The focus is more on the mechanics of production than craft of making textiles. (More textile samples, linked to relevant looms, would be appreciated). On the main floor, a terrific raw space...More

A very welcoming venue. Artist Diane Lemire's Paradox in the Nora Rosamond Hughes Gallery was endearing. Gift shop had a wide range on offer, all quality items. A bit tricky to move around the large machinery, but lots to learn.

This museum is a gem! The second floor is a fascinating view of the early textile industry in Canada - ca 1870. Run by volunteers, it is definitely worth a trip from Ottawa - and from farther away as well. Delightful gift shop with hand...More

Small (only two rooms) but interesting museum. It has old machines from old textile plant, interesting video to show the process.
