Superb story and exhibition

Brilliant history of how a poor young girl was so desperate to have a copy of the bible in her own language that she set out alone with her meagre savings to buy one. There were none available initially but her wish to own and read a copy of her own was the start of the Bible Society. Fabulous translation work in all corners of tbe globe is Mary's legacy.

Not dog friendly
Aug 2019 • Solo
Went to visit there today and you can't take your dog any where near it. Had a coffee but didn't even get to see the chapel as I had my dog with me. It was a hot day so didn't want to leave him in the motorhome. Call themselves Christians aren't we all God's creatures?

Brilliant and Intetesting

One simple story of a girl and her focus on buying a Bible at a time when it cost money, energy and effort - and how it literally lead to a world-changing movement. Very well presented, interesting, child-friendly and well worth the visit.

The history behind the story
Jul 2019 • Friends
Even if (unlike me) you haven't heard the story of Mary Jones and her bible in Sunday School you will find this an interesting and inspiring exhibition. It makes you realise how much we take for granted in having the printed word at out fingertips.
This is a well laid out, informative and interactive exhibition on Mary's struggle to own her own bible, and the work to produce the bible in every language today.
The café on site is reasonably priced and a good menu for light lunches/tea, plenty of parking and a children's play area. Well worth a visit.

An inspiring visit
May 2019 • Couples
It’s exhibition tells the story of Mary Jones who was so desperate for her own copy of the bible at the age of 15 in 1800 she walked 26 miles to buy one. Her need caused the formation of the Bible Society which provides bibles around the world.
The exhibition is housed I; a disused church with interactive displays. A cafe is also attached.

The difference one child can make
Sep 2018 • Couples
This small museum, tells the story of Mary Jones and how her desire to own a bible in her own language, (which she saved 6 years for), so inspired the pastor, that she walked over 20 miles to see. That he was challenged that everyone should be able to afford the bible in their own language, now the Bible society in worldwide.
It is inspirational how one child's actions can influence so many people.
This museum tells her story and what the bible society does now.
It is about the Christian faith.
There is a good level car park, a childrens play area, a cafe and toilets

Museum with a local and national theme
Sep 2018 • Friends
The well sign posted museum. Had a large well kept car park, small play area, toilets and café. Short walk to the museum through the well kept grave yard. £1 parking returned when paid at the museum. The museum is clean and tidy easy accessible for disabled and prams. Lots of interactive item for all ages telling the journey on foot that Mary Jones took to receive a Bible in Welsh. The story carries on . . . . well worth learning the story. All the boards and interactive items were in Welsh and English. Well worth the visit.

Interesting
Aug 2018 • Family
This is a small museum with a Christian emphasis focusing as it does (rather obviously - the clue being in the title) on the story of Mary Jones which appears to have been one of those “light blue paper and retire” moments in history. My children enjoyed the interactive exhibits and we had the place to ourselves. It’s not huge but, with expectations tempered, it’s an interesting place to while away a hour or two on a rainy day.

Very interesting attraction
Aug 2018 • Couples
Impressed by the very up to date and beautifully kept museum, which uses touch screens to tell the true story of Mary Jones. There are also lots of interesting activities for the children. It's amazing how the determination of one Welsh teenager two hundred years ago, has touched the world we live in today.
There is a clean, modern cafe and toilets on site. Disappointed that our teas came in paper cups rather than mugs or cups. Parking charge is refunded at the museum.
Worth a visit.
