Nice view of cows eating grasses. We joined the fresh cheese making course. Though it was in German, we loved watching the milk changing to cheese. The food in the restaurant was also good. The play ground was also enjoyable. Will definitely go again.

Visiting with grandparents made a nice family trip on a cloudy day. A hint: call in advance to know when you can participate in cheese making or when they show you how cheese is made. It's a lengthy process so we had to wait (a bit to) long to seeing it happen. Nice restaurant. The fondue for 3 feeds easily... More

It's a few years since we visited but we enjoyed it very much. Interesting to watch cheese production and nice café for lunch.

It is an amazing small town, great countryside traditional landscape, very fresh air. The cheese visit is quite good to understand how they make cheese in Emmental. The restaurant is very good, very typical Swiss food.

Came here on a Sunday with friends. Booked a table at the restaurant which was packed. Very good reasonably priced (for Switzerland) Swiss food pleasantly served. The views are great and there are a few buildings in which to wander and buy tourist items or cheese and a bakery next door. I believe there are exhibitions and talks about the... More

After going to the La Gruyere cheese factory, we weren't sure whether we wanted to get to another cheese factory. But boy am I glad we did go to Emmental Show Dairy! It's an interesting blend of modern and traditional - you can see how cheese is made in modern production, and in a quaint 1750 herdsman hut (an actual... More

I recommend you visit on Sunday and reserve a place for the Brunch. Its rather expensive (its Switzerland) but you get a great variety of typical swiss food. also visit the 'Stöckli' next to the playground to see how Cheese was made in the past and how people lived 100years back. the only negative point is that the Schaukäserei is... I contacted the dairy in February (traveled in Sept) and the kind attendant, Judith, let me know how to secure English language iPods for our trip. As promised, they were waiting with our name on them (seriously!) when we arrived. A great place to see how cheese is (and was) made, packed and shipped. The self guided tour allows photos,... More

We drove through the Emmental region and particularly the region near Affoltern and Moosegg The roads were quiet but you needed to be careful as at times as they were narrow. That said the scenery was peaceful and spectacular. You could here the cow bells tinkling across the valley . One of our favorite spots we visited in Switzerland. The... More

The Swiss speciality Emmental cheese is produced all over the Emmental region but is best seen, understood and tasted at the Show Dairy which is located in Affoltern in the canton of Bern. The Dairy consists of a (small) modern factory (with restaurant, shop, terrace), a gift shop (where iPods for self-guided tours can be rented and various Swiss non-edible... More
