Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The restaurant is located in Foncillon Beach, near the port of Royan. We went to have dinner in July and we had a great time. The service was very kind and allowed our dogs to stay with us. We had a plate of prawns with a mustard mayonnaise, mussels with french fries and a sole dish. I specially recommend the sole as it was delicious. We will come back!

The terrace being directly on the beach, you can enjoy a relax meal or drink, looking at the kids playing safely on the sand or having a late swim, The food is nice and plentiful. We enjoy their "paella" and their mussels dishes. The view is superb specially at sunset. A very enjoyable evening!

We used to come to Royan about every couple of years; we stayed nearby and we ate at Le Parasol just about every day, as well as dropping in for drinks from time to time. The food was (and is) pretty good - not exactly Michelin standard, but quite adequate for every day, and of course extremely convenient for the beach. It's always been very much a family run enterprise, with obvious Basque connections, which is fine by us. Unusually, we hadn't been to Royan for a few years, but this year we looked forward to renewing our acquaintance; we were disappointed.

Part of the Parasol's attraction was that you could turn up at any time from about midday to 9 p.m. and have a drink, a snack, or something more substantial. No longer. There now appear to be set times for meals: 12 noon for lunch, 8 p.m. for dinner - but that doesn't mean that if you turn up then you will get served at all soon, especially if you are a couple, or on your own. Although it's the same family members that run it, they seem to have adopted a new business model, and priority now appears to be given to large family groups. This year we had a number of frustrating experiences, and after a couple of days we finally gave up and went to the harbour and the sea front crescent, where we found a number of very good reasonably priced restaurants where the cooking was even better than the Parasol. A great pity.

Don't be too put off by this - but if you feel like eating there, be prepared for erratic service.
