    Not So Bad
I thought this road would be worse than it actually was. You have good sight lines, so easy to see oncoming cars and plan accordingly. Up and over to the south side of the peninsula provides lovely vistas. I’d do it again. Very panoramic.

    Exhilarating drive
If you enjoy driving narrow, winding roads along steep mountain sides, the Healy Pass is for you. The guard rails are basically non-existent, but the views are spectacular. I found it to be even more enjoyable than the Conor Pass on the Dingle peninsula. Take your time and enjoy the thrill!

    A place of tranquility
If you are ever near Bantry or Kenmare the Ring of Beara is a wonderful experience. The trip around is great and beautiful views but there is a pass between Lauragh and Adrigole that you should drive. It is breathtaking. Go from the west side at Laura th to the east side then you can take the road to Castletownbeara and on down to Dursey Island and then drive the west side from Allihies back to Kenmare. It is the most peaceful beautiful place in Ireland.

It is truly a spectacular place. However, do not stop for an elderly man who is walking by the side of the road. He is not to be trusted and do not open your car window to him, especially women.

Amazing views on both sides of the mountain. Doesn't take too much time to cross. Lovely sheep everywhere.

This mountain pass drive across the Ring of Beara was one of our favorite highlights of our trip to Ireland. The hills were nestled in clouds, waterfalls were everywhere with stunning greenery and gorgeous rock formations. It felt truly magical. While the road did get quite narrow and windy, the visibility was good and there were good places to get around other cars. It also wasn't busy.

Off the beaten path, and worth it for that. Several spots have beautiful views overlooking the valley.

The Healy Pass is a beautiful drive with lovely scenery even in bleak weather.

HOWEVER the experience was tainted by an extremely uncomfortable situation.

I was with my husband and friend and her fiancé.

A old man with sheep flagged down our car.
He then leant into the window and started asking the group very personal and strange questions about our relationships, children, marriage etc.

He then opened up the passenger door and leant in and kissed my head and asked for a photo. When we tried to leave and drive off he clung onto the door and was trying to stop us.

Overall very strange. Would not recommend travelling alone and if you do, make sure windows and doors are locked.

It’s been said this is one of the best if not the most scenic road in Ireland. Hair raising drive through narrow mountain road but absolutely stunning scenery. One of the most beautiful drives I’ve ever done.

We went there around 5 p.m., so there were not a lot of tourists. It was a nice tour, with some cute sheep. We really enjoyed it, would recommend.
