This is a detour on a rather bumpy road. But it's totally worth it. Scorched land, rocks, sheep's and at the end view onto the sea. I strongly recommend

Pass is the word, we were there when it was quiet so only met one car coming the other way, the road is really narrow. The views and scenery are beautiful and spectacular. As we travelled across we had rain, sleet, sunshine and amazing rainbows. A not to be forgotten experience.

No matter how often I travel this "road", I never cease to be struck by its beauty and wildness. It is worth the time to dawdle if you can pull in to the side to let the infrequent other travelers pass.Every 100 yards, just stop and look, drink in the unspoilt countryside, smell the marsh smells, the sheep grazing among... I love my country and places like The Healy Pass are the reason! This is postcard Ireland, without all of the gift shops and fuss. Sheep on the road, rolling hills, green everywhere, all of it can be found here.

Our hotel recommended this to us, otherwise we would not have known about it. A lovely trip to do that was nice and quiet compared to other routes in the area. We were blessed with lovely weather for most of it but whatever the weather this is stunning scenery

Heartbreaking beauty on show. Amazing scenery as you ascend. Just a 14 or so km drive from the Kerry side at Lauragh to the Cork side at Adrigole (or vice versa). If you are doing the ring of beara make sure you teavel up Healy pass. There are some pull over areas just before the summit ontbe Lauragh side where... More
