If you are looking for a few hours escape from all the hustle and bustle then this is the place to visit. Free car park takes you into the small wooden shop / cafe area where a very friendly lady greeted us. Inside are a few tables, some lovely cakes, and drinks. Outside is a lovely seating area looking across... More

Absolutely fantastic. This really is such a delightful venue. This comprises of a series of lakes, ponds, and marshland which have been very well designed allowing easy access to view the very varied flora and fauna, all within an area of outstanding natural beauty. Alongside one of the lakes adjacent to a small car park is the cafe area, and... More

Went there on a very hot day, hoping to walk the dog and have a picnic. However when I got there they had signs up saying no dogs allowed....this was confirmed by a rather unfriendly lady in the cafe who said dogs were not allowed even on a lead. As it was hot I could not possibly leave my dog... More

Hi evergreen295 Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your visit. We do state on the website on the "visit us" page that "in the interests of not upsetting the wildlife, dogs are not permitted". Apologies for any misunderstanding. Something the website doesn't state is that in addition to our visitors from the animal world, we are also visited by schools... More

We visited here a few years ago and loved the peace, good food and beautiful views. Passing by last week, we drove in, expecting the usual warm welcome and equally warm home-made cheese scones. The first disappointment was that we are no longer allowed to take the dog in, then we discovered that the café was under new management. Waiting... More

Fantastic walk around the lakes. The grounds are really well maintained and my two youngs boys enjoyed looking out for the animal carvings located around the pathways. Sitting and having a coffee on the veranda was lovely, watching the ducks on the lake. Dogs aren't allowed which is understandable as this is a nature reserve and it is nice to... More

Friends had recently discovered this wonderful nature reserve, off the A3052 between Colyford and Rousden . It's series of lakes/ponds that you can walk around (although not recommended for children because of deep water) with woodland, sculptures, viewpoints and other hidden treasures. There are refreshments available at the entrance and you can sit and commune with the ducks if you... More

Just got back from our anuual holiday and were lucky to stay at a cottage that the owners of this nature reserve let out. The nature reserve is a superbly well thought out and planned area that has been created over the last 14 years and is still an ongoing project. I walked round the reserve every day and could... This site, and particularly the cafe, have been advertised in local papers, and, being a local, I have tried several times to go there. Each time it has been closed, although the web site just says it is open mid February until mid November. I am going to keep trying, but so far I feel disappointed.

We have only just discovered this wonderful 'refuge' on our latest visit to the area. A testament to the vision and hard work by this local farmer. Wide mown grass rides allow easy access to lakes and enhanced 'natural' landscapes. Benches are sited to provide vistas to be cherished, free from the intrusive noise of cars, dogs etc. It was... We live just round the corner from the Lakes (as we call them) and have visited many times since discovering them last year. A great place for quiet contemplation, photography and nature watching. A credit to the owners who have spent many years creating such a beautiful place. It lifts my spirits every time I visit. For those of you... More
