If you're a birder, you should definitely plan to visit this reserve even if you feel blasé about Cock of the Rock leks. This lek is located 3 blocks from the centre of Jardín and down a hill to the creek. While we were there,...More

The birds are interesting, but they charge far too much - 10,000 per person - for a 15 minute watch from a single platform. There are far more interesting things to do in Jardin, and for free.

I was skeptical when my wife mentioned wanting to visit here. My first glimpse of this bird wiped away all skepticism. The sound overwhelms you as you walk through the gate and just the sheer enthusiasm of the other visitors is contagious. Just go. I...More

We went on two successive afternoons, having enjoyed it so much on the first day. We had very good sightings of several Cocks of the Rock - beautiful, and rather bizarre, birds. We also saw several other birds, including a motmot. The lady who owns...More

We photographed this marvellous bird one morning and it was surprising to see and enjoy so many male individuals at once. We visited during the low season for activity and counted 7-8 birds. The friendly lady owner told us how in season, you can find...More

This place is a joke. Supposed to be open only 2 times per day - 1 hour in morning between 05:30-06:30 and in evening 5-6pm. I showed up to the gate at 05:40am, gate was locked and there were a few other tourists outside. We...More

We saw many nice birds. The owner was very friendly and when we entered she told us that we wouldn't have to pay the 10000 pesos in case we don't see any birds. According to her it's best to go in the morning at 5:40...More

It's a bit tricky finding this small, private sanctuary. A short walk from town, you turn right on a steep rocky road just before the bridge (there is a small outdoor cafe there) and walk a few minutes before reaching it on your right side....More
