Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We wanted to visit this venue but found it very hard to find opening times. The few places we found had conflicting information but all had in common that it was open in July. We packed up the car with a picnic and four young children and headed down only to find the place was closed!! Small sign on the wall saying it's open April, May & June. It was a very warm day, four restless children and virtually no other options in the locality we had to turn to a internet search to replan our day. So frustrating! From the information we found it looked like a great place to go so we were very disappointed to say the least.

I returned to Ballindoolin several times last summer and plan lots of visits again this year. The grounds, shop and cafe unfortunately only open for a couple of months but are well worth a visit. There is a small museum with memorabilia and a small craft shop with local produce. The cafe serves delicious coffee and home made cakes and scones.

I'll keep it short. Car park had one car on a Sunday afternoon...red flag right there! Friendly girl took the overpriced fee for entry (€6 each!) Museum, what museum? It was a large room with a selection of old letters and artefacts behind glass along one wall. The gardens while pretty, needed a bit of attention. As for the nature walk, well the map was completely unclear as was the barely marked confusing route. The paths were poorly maintained so I would not recommend the nature walk to young families at all! On the upside, the nature walk so bad that we couldn't stop laughing at the muck-laden ridiculousness of it all. The most hilarious belly-laugh I've had in YEARS! (thus the 2/5) Sorry to be so negative :(

I am extremely disappointed that your visit to Ballindoolin was not pleasant for you. As a private garden we do our very best to ensure that everybody has a nice time visiting us. I wish that you had told me at the time of your visit - of your dissatisfaction with Ballindoolin. I agree the museum is small but we have chosen interesting items from the house to display, especially the letters which are from one of the people in the house who fought in the British Air Force in the First World War, as it is 2014 many people find these very interesting, and there is also much information about the history of the house in the Museum and about how we restored the garden. The nature walk I admit can be a bit muddy in places, especially after heavy rain, we keep the wood as natural as possible and we constantly repair the paths. The Victorian garden is our pride and joy and we feel it is very well kept.
