One of my favourite places. I've stayed in the guesthouse and I've hiked the area. Today I took my wife and her parents. Such a beautiful afternoon. Walked all over, went out on the lake on a row boat, had a snack and visited the Abbey shop, gardens and iron sculptures. Love the architecture of the Abbey. So peaceful, even... More

Well, part of our Rhein tour this stop is a must. Well, all is highly well prepared for your visit, is clearly one of the best prepared visits you can make on your way back or forward to Koblenz area. Prepared (paid) parking location, shops, hotels, areas to meditate, and an impressive abbey worth a visit. We choose late afternoon... More

I travelled not too far from where i was staying to visit this famous abbey. The location is very accessible since its just along the main road. Its German Romanesque features are a sight to behold. The abbey has an herbal garden nearby and is also very near a walking trail that leads you to the very serene lake. Its... More

The impressive benedictine Maria Laach Abbey is set the nice surroundings of the lacher lake. It can represent either an half a day tourist trip while around Koblenz, or just a stop while cruising on the A61 Motorway between Bonn and Koblenz. The building is perfect example of the German Romanesque architecture style, both simple and impressive.

What a beautiful place - I went there on a class trip 11 years ago and I always wanted to come back! I did and it was a nice place. Really tidy, good prices and a nice flower store and book store. Also nice sculptures in the backyard. Just enjoy the abbey and if you can, go to on of... More

We were headed from northern Germany to the Rhine and decided visiting the abbey would be a nice break. We did had some difficulty as the exit to the abbey from the highway was closed due to construction and, for anyone who has not driven through Germany, they do not post detour signs. There were closed roads everywhere...but once we... More

Beautiful building in a serene setting - was lucky enough to catch the 1145am service so a little chanting as well. There is a table in the back of the church with self guided tour cards in many languages. Well worth a couple of hours or a whole day. Bring your camera.

This is a lovely part of the region, the Abbey is a fantastic building. There is also a large lake just a short walk away with boats, which can be hired, these were not expensive, 6 euro's for half an hour, well worth a visit.
