PLEASE NOTE!!! THE BUTTERFLY FARM IN ST MARTIN IS CURRENTLY CLOSED DUE TO HURRICANE IRMA!! At the Butterfly Farm you will be escorted by your guide who will lead you through a specially created exhibition area of landscaped gardens. This is the butterflies own lush tropical garden playground! Here you will see hundreds of rare and exotic butterflies fluttering freely around you. The guide will identify different species, point out courtship and mating displays and tell butterfly facts and stories. You can also witness the various stages of the butterfly's life cycle, from butterflies laying their eggs to caterpillars hatching, growing and forming their chrysalis. Ask your guide how to handle the butterflies and caterpillars if you dare! The tour lasts around 15 minutes and you are welcome to stay as long as you like at leisure in the gardens. There is also an extensive selection of butterfly gifts and souvenirs in the shop, or drinks available in the shady cafe.

A wonderful place to visit. Pay once and go in as many times as you like during your stay on the island of St Maarten. Watch them as the move from lavae to butterfly. A pleasant way to spend a few hours during your holiday....More

This absolutely wonderful effort to encourage the global butterfly population was an unexpected joy. The various caterpillars, chrysalis' and butterflies were amazing. A quick 15-30 minutes with a guided tour included was spectacular. Unfortunately this was located on the east side of the island and...More

We were promised to see "hundreds of butterfly species". Maybe they were hidden but we have hardly seen a hundred at all, less than 20 different ones (of course, they were beautiful)

We stopped for a nice guided tour, English or French. Lots of butterflies, various sizes and colors. Love the foliage. $15 fee per person.

I had been to the Butterfly Farm on Aruba and loved the experience. I wanted to compare the two experiences. Both farms were basically set up the same, but I have to say that the guided tour at the St. Martin Farm was very different....More

The Butterfly Farm offered a small group tour for about 15 minutes, then allowed us to watch and interact with butterflies as they flew around us or landed on us. The cost seemed a bit pricy, however, day visitors to the island are given a...More
