NIce park in centre of Carlow but best part was boat trip with the affable Cliff on his lovely little boat up to Milford. Lots of fun and very relaxed and informative to boot. Cliff and his motley crew make you feel welcome and know their area, fauna and history well. Great family day out or just lie back and drift along the river.

It's a lovely park thats well kept but lately there's people drinking there and leaving their often broken alcohol bottles there. Graffiti sometimes on the lovely playground items. And rough teenagers that take over the kiddies items in the park. Young lad attacked in there and a disabled man too. There used to be security there who would stop that behavior but now all they have is CCTV which is no good. Get a security guard back in there so we can all start to feel safe again.

I started using this park recently to do the Park Runs every Saturday morning, such a lovely area, never realised how lovely it is, plenty of space to run, walk the dog, or even drop down to the water and feed all the beautiful swans, such beautiful scenery, we even went on a boat trip down the River Barrow last night with Boat trips.ie great experience, with lots of local history and fun stories.
Saw lots of wild life.
Enjoy a walk around the park afterwards.

We used the park as a trail head for the walking/running path along the river. The swans in the river were awesome and it seemed like the playground was well used.

The park is a nice place to visit when they have events on otherwise the place is average. I agree with some of the other reviews that recommend a possible coffee shop of coffee cart which would really encourage people to bring there kids. More events should be organised here as its a nice wide open space.

This place would be great if a little cafe was set up somewhere near the banks, the views and facilities are great but its missing something!

Been there lots of times there is a Barrow Walk, boats, swan feeding, a great park for all ages and much more. The hill is also great for rolling down.

Can we swim in the river in the park ?

You can but it's not manned by life guards so personally I would avoid it. Make sure life buoys are present if you do so and don't swim alone in case you get into difficulty.
