Paddle Your Own Canoe
About
PYOC offers you the opportunity to rent canoes with associated gear and camping gear and take a multi day adventure along the beautiful Barrow river trail, south east Ireland. It is possible to paddle from 1 to 6 days between Monasterevin & New Ross,(shorter trips on a more southerly part of the river) and you may stop and set up camp anywhere you desire along the way on the bank, but we can recommend to you some of the wilder or more popular spots depending on what kind of adventure you want to have. *NEW: We now have a camp ground beside the river in the picturesque town of Graiguenamanagh with all modern facilities. We can also organize B&B or hotel accommodation if you would prefer a more luxurious experience, these are also available river side all the way. When your finished we can give you a lift back, or organize transport back to your car where you started.

Our trip was very enjoyable for every reason, the river, the area and landscape is amazing, Nathan was as sound and helpful as can be, the equipment was perfect. Most of all I enjoyed the freedom of travelling at your own pace, the amazing places we have seen and the lovely people we met. I loved the feel operating the historical locks, the excitement and thrill and ease of being while navigating on this beautiful river.
We were blessed with great weather.
I would highly recommend it.

Just do it, book it with mates or the kids or your partner, it's a guaranteed success story especially if you get the weather. I enjoyed the 2021 trip with 6 friends and we were blessed with very calm conditions for all 3 days as well as some beautiful scenery, wildlife and stop off venues for refreshments. You won't find better value and the region of Ireland that the Barrow will bring you through is an undiscovered gem for the majority of tourists, local and foreign alike. As with many of the reviews, I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't also commend Nathan for his superb management of the trip. Canoes and itinerary were provided along with a water safety tutorial and tips for what would suit our groups interests as well as a convenient drop off point at the end. Don't waste another fine day lounging on the couch, get out there and get to know Ireland through great companies like PYOC.

We had a 2 day canoeing trip with Paddle your own Canoe, and honestly it was the most picturesque and fun experience I've had in a long time. We canoes from Goresbrigde to Greignamanagh on the first day and onto St Mullins the second day. We stopped for a swim Clashganny which was beautiful. We saw kingfishers, otters, swans, mallards, ducks, dragonflies and much more. The river Barrow was incredibly scenic. We stayed at the waterside in Greignamanagh and had dinner and pints and it was lovely. Hands down the best break I've had in Ireland. Do it, you wont regret it.

Just getting a chance to write this out now as wanted to do it right. Myself and a few friends were away on a 3 day canoe trip over the bank holiday weekend and I couldn't recommend it more. If you're thinking of planning something and have stumbled across this page, then stop looking and just book it - you won't regret it.

From the 1st time I contacted Nathan, he made everything as easy as possible in planning the trip - no stress at all. We travelled up the night before we left and he suggested a great spot for camping beside the lock in Milford.

The canoes are rock solid - there was a bit of getting used to balancing getting in and out at the beginning but everyone was jumping in and out with no bother after about an hour. We brought along gear for cooking and tea/coffee along the way and it was a godsend - stopping for a few sausage sandwiches and a hot mug of tea is good for the soul.

There was plenty of opportunities for picking up a few bits and pieces along the way and all the camping spots were lovely.

We'll be talking about this trip for a long time to come.

Thanks again Nathan - really appreciate all the help!

Loved the experience from start to finish. Great trip, workout, scenery, therapy ...the works. Nathan was very easy to deal with - chilled (while taking all safety precautions). Great spots for swims along the way. Including some that were unexpected. Will be back.

Amazing first time trip down a beautiful stretch of the river Barrow with my three daughters, from Goresbridge to Graigueamanagh. Approx 5 1/2 hours. Left my car in Goresbridge and Nathan met us in Graig and dropped me back for my car. Sound.

Wow amazing little mini break with this organisation. Stunning scenic trip down stream with our extended blended family if all ages 6 to 43! Breathtakingly views. But best part was the relaxed dealings with manager who responded so politely to our many queries when booking. Nothing was a problem with Nathan. Best if luck to him. Good business man.

Three days and two nights canoeing and camping along the banks of one of Irelands most scenic rivers with my 17yo daughter ... we had it all, wind, rain, thunder and glorious sunshine and of course lots of scenery. Tough going but great memory

Our 14 day Ireland vacation begun with 3 days canoeing down the river Barrow. A true highlight!
Start at Millford Park, end in St. Mullin's.

The scenery on the river is beautiful, calm and sometimes quite remote. At the locks we met walkers who stopped to watch us and often even gave a helping hand. Everyone was very friendly and we had a few enjoyable chats with locals and fellow tourists alike.

Nathan was a great provider! Organisation was very easy. We got all the gear in good condition. Short but good introduction to the locks, valuable info on where to get picked up in the evenings (we did not camp at the riverside). When I had to confess that I lost the lock key, he stayed calm an his only concern was how to get us another one. (fortunately another group of canoers had taken the key with them and gave it back to us when we met again)

Thanks Nathan for enabling this awesome experience!

My son and I went from Goresbridge to St Mullins last weekend and with the good weather we had a great week end. The trip by kayak is unique and the waterway splendid, its a great way to see a completely the countryside from a different perspective. We found Nathan to be very flexible and communication was good throughout. We stayed overnight at the Graiguenamanagh campsite which is in a great location.
