Ibex Promenade Walking Trail

Not very obvious where to start but after some research I navigated to "Pontresina (Alb Languard) (St. Moritz)" in Google Maps. When you arrive, the trail starting point is obvious with some landmark signs. If you fancy a longer hike, consider the Morteratsch Glacier Trail (SwitzerlandMobility route 314), which unfortunately was partially closed off - maintenance works along the way - during my visit (low season). I did not encounter any Ibex but the path was nice to walk, with great views of Pontresina from above.

Great Family Walk

Apart from getting up/down to the start/end of the walk, it's pretty much on a level. Not too long, but terrific views, and some interesting info points along the way catering effectively for both adults and children.

Just behind our hotel in the mountain. They come down at 4:00pm to eat.

No wonder one the largest colonies of ibices in the Alps have chosen as their home territory the Piz Albris mountain near Pontresina. When the meadows in the valley begin to turn green while snow persists above the treeline, some time between the end of April and the beginning of June, Pontresina is arguably the best place to observe a certain phenomenon. It's the time when the "King of the Alps" descends as far as the village periphery to graze the budding blades of grass. Anyone staying in the Engadine mountain village of Pontresina between May thru October stands a good chance of getting a very close look at ibices.
