About
The Alexis Forel Museum offers more than 700m2 of exhibition space in a 16th century house with an Italian-style interior courtyard, where old colonnades, doors, stoves and fireplaces meet contemporary works. Founded in 1918 by Alexis and Emmeline Forel to present their collections of furniture, ceramics and above all prints, the museum nowadays gives a prominent place to varied temporary exhibitions, artistic or historical, which mainly revolve around regional heritage, prints and cinema. The lithographs of David Lynch, the works of Albertine and Germano Zullo, Martial Leiter, Schauenberg, as well as the figures of Peter Ustinov or Capucine, and the Morgian artists of yesterday and today, have adorned our walls. We offer between three and six temporary exhibitions per year, detailed information on which is available on our website. A rich collection of icons from Russia, as well as the collection of Dream Boxes made by Marie d'Ailleurs are permanently visible.

A real gem 💎 of @lac leman

Both musees, reflecting currently the beauty of Switzerland 🇨🇭 between Lake(s) and Mountains 🏔 is a real gem 💎 in Morges.

Not only the current exposition is uniquely well researched and displayed, but the responsables also have opened their hearts to understand and embrace that unique position of Switzerland to have contributed to so many unique and lovely films. All of them are engaged, knowledgeable and approachable to hear more stories about Heidi, James Bond, and all the others.

We will always seek our wonderful “Heimat” in films, and we are proud to be somehow part of the 🧀 Swissness🇨🇭.

Grand-rue
Aug 2019
We kept a visit to the museum for a next occasion, but Tripadvisor readers are recommended to visit the Grand-rue in Morges where it is located. It is a very well appointed pedestrians' street and does not have the usual suspect shops, but rather an eclectic collection of high quality, specialist shops. Interspaced with bars and restaurants.

A bit disappointing to travel to Morges, only to find that the museum is currently closed for renovations. Is there no way for the museum to indicate this closure here on these pages?

Beautiful old building and excellent museum

Situated in the real center in the main street in Morges. We felt the atmosphere inside was simply magic. The building is beautiful, with its little backyard and the old stone staircase. The atmosphere of old times is really present and you feel really at home playing with all the toys and books. It is a great experience for the whole family.

Not good for people with troubles climbing stairs but certainly a museum well worth visiting. There is a whole floor dedicated to toys and dolls. Takes you back to your childhood and beyond. Also temporary exhibitions.

Excellent museum and the building is beautiful!

We discovered this hidden gem of a museum in the main street in Morges. We felt the atmosphere inside was simply magic.
The building is beautiful, with its little backyard and the old stone staircase: I really had the feeling to be out of time, and that I left all my concerns at the door.
The whole museum is a toy museum, but it is more than that. The atmosphere of old times is really present and you feel really at home playing with all the toys and books. Many items are interactive, many objects can be touched and played with so it is a great experience for the whole family.
