About
Beautiful old masseria (local farm) restored with a preservative renovation and bringed back to a state of the art winery. Open daily for tours and tastings. We made great wines out of tipical indigenous grapes.

Fantastic wine and tour!

One of the best wine houses of the area! We absolutely recommend people going here for wine tasting. Next to that we also had a fantastic tour and explanation of the winery, the history and tasting by Martina!

We didn't visit this winery since it was closed when we were in Puglia, however, we tasted of their wines and we loved them....we are still looking to purchase a case to send back to Australia. I am hoping we can track them down before we leave Italy.... I highly recomend these wines.

I read about Masseria Li Veli in the Washington Post, and boy am I glad we stopped by! Schedule a tour and lunch if you want to have the full experience. Highly recommended. And you can give pats to Alfa and Adone, the resident Bassett hounds.

Relaxed but most informative

My wife and I were included with several others on a tour of the winery facility and a wine tasting and it was a most enjoyable experience. Alessia hosted the group and guided us through the imposing structure, explained the history, told us about the vinification process and then sat us down at lovely tables for the tasting. Alessia was superb; she is enthusiastic and instructive about the Li Veli products in the most charming and casual fashion. We agreed it was the most enjoyable wine tasting we've ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Highly recommended. But make an appointment!

Excellent visit today. Wonderful hosts, gorgeous organic vineyard, sumptuous wines, delicious food. Highly recommend, you can taste the love in their produce. They also provide a wonderful array of tasty vegan dishes too. I shall strive to purchase more wine from here when back in the UK.

Wonderful vineyard

We had a lovely tour of the vineyard and tasted the superb wines especially loved the Pezzo Morgana Reserva and the Verdeca. The daughter in law of the owner who hosted us was so welcoming. Just a really hospitable place can't wait to visit Li Veli in Covent Garden.

Wow! What a wonderful surprise!!!

We stopped here just before lunch time on our group tour with italiantours.com.au. We had a wonderful tour and whilst I'm not particularly interested in wine (other than drinking it!) I found it fascinating and learnt a lot. We then went for a tasting....well, the food that went with the wine was incredible!

Antipasto was to die for...not olives, sundried tomatoes etc but fresh sheep ricotta, mozzarella balls, grilled fennel, puffs of anchovy and capers, corn meal slice etc. Dessert was a delicious custard cake in pastry...warm and fresh from the oven!

The wines were also delicious. A white wine to start followed by three reds.

Two friendly basset hounds stole the show though! The girl came in for cuddles and laid at our feet. The boy was a little overwhelmed with the people and tried a few times to come in but couldn't quite bring himself to enter. Finally he mustered up the courage and ran straight for the kitchen door! He wasn't allowed in so eagerly followed the wait staff around, hoping for some scraps!

I am very cautious of hygiene but the dogs in no way compromised this, they were delightful!!!

A Vineyard Tour Steeped in Tradition and History
Oct 2015 • Friends
I have visited many vineyards over the years but the Masseria Li Veli was one of the most impressive vineyards I have toured, for its remarkable history, its growing methods and the rich taste of its wines. The Falvo family purchased this masseria to revitalize the area and bring the wines of Puglia to a larger market. Before the Falvo family, it was owned by the well known Italian economist, the Marquis Antonio de Vitii de Marco, who wanted to use the masseria as a model cellar for southern Italy. The masseria has been completely renovated and it is stunning. Everything from the stone floors to the French oak barrels is infused with elegance and good taste. Light streams in from all directions and wines are "cellared" above ground, so no dusty cold cellar tours here. The main story of this masseria is the grapes - the negroamaro is the main variety cultivated at Li Veli, producing a rich, full bodied wine with a beautiful dark red colour. They also grow primitivo, susumanielo, malvasia nera and other local varieties. The layout method of the vineyards invokes the ancient setonce used by the Romans - where fields have 6 corners with pathways that converge at the centre. There are no pesticides or herbicides used on the vines so the 33 hectares are organically grown. Altogether it is reassuring to see wine growers forgo chemicals to cultivate quality wines. We tried 4 varieties of negroamaro - all of them rich, complex and full bodied. Even those of us who are not red wine drinkers marvelled at the pleasing taste of the wine and its smooth finish. My personal favourite was the primonero, but any of the wines they feature during a tasting would not disappoint. A visit to the masseria is well worth it. Our tour guide was friendly and welcoming. Incidentally, Masseria Li Veli has been selected among the 100 Italian finest wine producers by the Wine Spectator
