Ruins of a castle on a mountain by the river. Very beautiful sight from every angle. There is a small museum inside and a good restaurant, which is part of the hotel just beside the ruins.

Pleasant surprise. We were not expecting much, but it was a very interesting stop. It would not have been as enjoyable without a guide that came with admission...7 euros I believe. Bring good walking shoes. Great views along with the long history of the castle....More

We took in the castle this afternoon and it was beautiful and old. During a tour it was explained that this castle held off Napoleon and many other would-be conquerors . It is too bad that much of the original castle was destroyed by the...More

The largest castle on the Rhein, but it is mostly ruins. It does however, give you a great idea of the expanse of the castle in its day, and lets you imagine their daily life. It did feel a bit more touristy than other castles....More

Visiting these castle ruins were just OK for us. There really isn't much of the castle left to see so you really have to put your imagination to work with regards to what it might have looked like in its prime. Apparently there are more...More

This is an ideal stop during a drive or cruise along the Rhine River. The castle ruins are reached with a 2 Euro shuttle ride up the mountain from Sankt Goar - or one can walk it. The views of the Rhine valley, other castles,...More

We visited Rheinfels on a weekday morning. There were a few school groups, but overall it didn't feel too crowded. The admission is reasonable - I think it was 7 euros for adults. The museum has some really cool artifacts and a good historic overview...More

This was fun to explore, they even had info about the castle in English and Chinese! Making it more enjoyable for us. Loved the hands on feel about the place and they had a wonderful gift store with lots of fun and unique items. The...More
