‘’’Awesome Views’’’........ (:
Sep 2020 • Family
Last year when we visited Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Castle we drove past the cable car from a distance and thought next time we visit we must give it a go and so we did couple of weeks ago. Firstly parking, it was a beautifully hot Septembers day and parking was very busy, it looked like we would have to park quite far away from the Cable Car itself. However I decided to drive straight up to the ride and parking wasn’t a problem. Most of the car’s parked in the fields were walkers out for the day. It cost €5 for all day parking at the ride. Due to Covid everyone was socially distanced apart from inside the cable car, however from buying the tickets and actually getting on the ride it was only around 40 minutes which was much quicker than I expected. The ride to the top takes 6 minutes and the scenery is fantastic. Great views of the Castle as well. When you get to the top there’s Restaurant’s for food and drink. It cost €50 (Return) for for the 3 of us (discounted) but well worth it, however ideally to make the most of it you need a clear sunny day. If your feeling energetic there are several routes to walk back down. Regards......

First Taste of Bavarian Alps

I was very excited about taking the cable car up to Mount Tegelberg and even bought my ticket in advance. The plan was to do two or three hikes, one at the base and one or two on top. This was early May and he sun was shining. However, best plans gone astray, it had recently snowed so the trails were closed. Bummer. However, I went up to the top to check out the snow and enjoyed the Roman ruins just behind he cable car bottom station. There is also a summer bobsled run that was already in operation. Lots to do here and I hope to return in better weather.

excellent, beautiful views, easy to get to
Oct 2019
now we walked from Fussen through Schwangau to TegelbergBahn, about 3 miles, took us past Neuschwanstein, which we subsequently walked to from TegelbergBahn (another mile). The cable car was fabulous, about $25 i guess, and took us right to the top where there were two restaurants. There's also a walk, not particularly hazardous, leading to the summit. We walked it, but not to the summit. It's about 6000 feet above sea level with great views of the lakes and towns. Can't see Neuschwanstein from the top, though...only from the cable car. I believe you can walk to Neuschwanstein from the top, which might be a little less exertion than walking up to it through the gorge (which was BEAUTIFUL....). Anyway, we took the cable car to the top, had a beer and snack, typical reasonable german food (wursts, schnitzels, beer) - and is it just me, or do the Germans not know how to gouge tourists? We were always surprised how reasonable the food and beer costs were. Anyway, highly recommended.

Plan Your Day Carefully!
Sep 2019
This is a great attraction and we will go again, but plan better.

Plan for no or limited parking. The lot is small and you need to have coins to pay for a ticket.

The cable car ride was wonderful. There is multiple pricing, depending on if you are adult/youth, solo, with child/children/spouse, one way/return trip. The menu is in English, thank goodness. Our cost, for the roundtrip, was 22 euro per adult.

We arrived at the top and there are several trails to hike. You can go up or down. The trails down are not marked well. You have to pay attention or else you end up on the goat trail! The trails up are fun and well marked.

The restaurants at the top of the mountain offer great views. It takes some patience to get a beer or something to eat.

This is a "must do"!

A fun finish to a great day.

We spent the day touring the castles and museum and thought we would check this out if the weather held. It did and we did! We bought 6 rides, which we shared, and found it to be good value and an unique thrill too. Shared a beer and currywurst between rides, Tegelbergbahn will be a fond memory and a recommended stop for anyone who asks.

The luge was our final outing before beginning our long journey home. We had so much fun!! Each went 3 times. Then the grownups had a bier and we all took the cable car up to the top of the mountain for an amazing view.

Fun for the family

We rewarded the kids with a couple rides on this summer toboggan. The adults went too of course (like we're going to let them have all the fun). Some of the sleds were a little wonky, causing you to lean the opposite way that you should in the curves. Not a big deal until you come out of the curve and need to right yourself. I saw one girl fly off of her sled when this happened. Definitely not one you can go full speed on, but still a fun ride!

Our family (2 adults and 2 kids) did this several times as we enjoyed it so much! The scenery was amazing and you could go as fast or as slow as you liked on the toboggan. You have to pay for parking as well as the toboggan!

FUN!!!
Jul 2019 • Family
Our family spent an afternoon here and had a blast. We did take the Gondola to the top to enjoy the beautiful views. While up there you can watch all the people preparing and paragliding from the top. My kids loved this. There where many people who were hiking ( we did not do any of the trails due to time) the last ride down is around 5.
After riding down and waiting for part of our family ( paragliding) we played on 2 zip lines they have and a swing. They have a very refreshing wading pool to cool down after a hike. We were there on one of the hottest days and the wading pool was a welcomed site. The slide is a MUST so fun, you must be 8 to ride alone. Our 7 year old still a great time riding with us. We had to go purchase additional rides everyone wanted to keep riding . Tickets for the slide are reasonable. Leave at least a couple of hours for this place especially if you have kids.
