The Forggensee is a reservoir in the German state of Bavaria. The lake is located just north of Füssen. The artificial lake was taken into use 1954. Normally the surface of the lake is approx. 15 square km. But this Summer, the lake was almost...More

This lake has no water in it as of September 2018. What a bummer. No pictures. 3 stars for the water level and whatever led to this disaster on the area. No Ferris. No water sports. Obviously.

We are here right now. Still no lake. No lake. Dried up. Could have been nice. Also would have been nice to know or have some offer of a free meal or discount... nothing

We stayed at a hotel near this lake and unfortunately, it has been drained unless the dam has been repaired. The area is pretty and you are able to walk on the lake bed with the river running through it (very shallow).

Set in the foreground of some of the most beautiful mountains in the German Alps and directly near Castle Neuschwanstein this man-made lake can be amazing if the water level is high enough. Call ahead, please.

We went in June 2018 and there was no lake! It had dried up completely. Ask a local before deciding to visit.
