A good place to visit, safe white sand beach. Can walk through the park and explore. There is farmland and wet lands. The beach is a lovely harbour beach with pohutakawa trees along the edge. Pick up picnic supplies at Waiuku on the way out as there aren't shops near by. Great place for a day trip, drive a bit... More

Went with my family a good beach to be at. Situated in south Auckland one of the best beaches and a park. While going please check the timing for high and low tide. As when we went it was low tide and there was no water to swim. But overall good family beach u can also campaign.

The beach is quiet and had lots of Pohutukawa trees on the edges. We were the only ones on the beach on a bright sunny December day. Some impressive huge trees grow near the homestead. Must take a 15 minute walk around the dam lake. Lots of ducks and other birds on the lake. Toilets available in the park. The... More

We spent a night on the peninsula at the amazing Cabbage Tree Cottage, we also visited West Coast Jade. They recommended a trip to the park with our toddler to feed the wriggly eels and walk along the beach. Beautiful spot, a little local gem. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery, you could spend the whole day here!!

Great walks and views over the harbour back to Auckland. Birds everywhere. Nice beaches (not really for swimming).

Exploring the walks, lazing on the beach, swimming in the calm warm waters with the children. Fantastic day out with family

I visited on the 26th July 2016 specifically to see if there are Fernbirds (Matata) in the wetland areas. We heard them so I visited on the 27th with camera. Previously I have not heard them. The pest trapping and poisoning must be effective as there is a high number of Fernbirds. Sighting them was easy as well as getting... More

There ar many interesting places to visit on Awhitu Peninsula as well as the regional district walks. We visited the Manukau Heads Lighthouse historical area, Awhitu Wines, - very friendly staff, wine tasting etc.

Another one of New Zealands great regional parks, with free parking and toilets. Lots of wide open spaces to enjoy. Sheltered BBQ and picnic areas available. From the parking area, there is a short 1 minute track down to the beach to the right of the toilets, not wheelchair friendly. From there you can take a walk to the old... More
